Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

The mosque is opened Saturday to Thursday from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday it will be closed. Here you can admire the second largest handmade carpet in the world and the famous chandelier in the main prayer hall. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. Opened in 2001, this stunning marble mosque is one of the largest in the Gulf, with room to accommodate 20,000 worshipers. The mosque is built from 300,000 tonnes of Indian sandstone. The main musalla or prayer hall is square and 74.4 by 74.4 metres (244 by 244 feet) with a central dome rising to a height of 50 metres (160 ft) above the floor. Dress code: Visitors are required to dress modestly, cover the entire arms and legs, and not wear too tight clothing. · Women and girls aged seven and above must cover their hair. TAKE NOTE: That every FRIDAY the mosque are closed

Fantastic tour with Khalil! We learned so much about Muscat, and he brought us to a great lunch spot for fresh Omani seafood by the fish market. Khalil was able to take great photos of us at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque. The tour was very organized. We would happily book again!

We were on the road with Said Al Kiyumi for a day. He showed us all the important sights of the city and gave us an eventful tour with many historical facts and stories. We appreciate his kind so much that we booked the trip with him to Nizwa and Jabal al Akhdar. His driving style is very pleasant.

Had a fantastic day touring around Muscat. Highlights were the Grand Mosque, the Royal Opera house and the history museum, which was fascinating. Abdul Aziz was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you for a lovely day.

Our day trip with Said Al kiyumi was very interesting. He knew a lot about the culture, sights and living conditions in Oman and his driving style was safe and pleasant!

We had a really pleasant time in Muscat with our guide, Khalid AlRaqadi. He took us to all the highlights – the Grand Mosque, Muttrah Souq, the Fish Market, Al Alam Palace, Al Mirani and Al Jalali Fort, the Opera House, the National Museum, and the Al Bustan Hotel. What made the day stand out was how thoughtful he was though as he went out of his way to take photos of my wife and me at different spots, making sure we had memories to take back with us. He also showed us a couple of hidden viewpoints overlooking the ocean that we wouldn’t have found on our own. Khalid was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to spend the day with. He explained the history in a clear and engaging way, but also gave us space to explore and enjoy at our own pace. We never felt rushed, just well taken care of. It was a great experience, and we’d happily recommend Khalid to anyone visiting Muscat.

We've had a great day. Ahmed was a very friendly and attentive guide who enthusiastically talks about his beautiful country, their culture and faith. Really a professional organization, also by the back office. Highly recommended!
