Archaeological Park of Pompeii
The city has ancient origins as Rome, in fact the first settlements date back as far as the 7th century BC. Since then Pompeii, despite the many wars and political vicissitudes experienced over the centuries, had a continuous and constant development, interrupted only by the terrible earthquake of 62 AD and subsequently from the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, which with an immense rain of ashes and lapilli buried Pompeii under more than six meters of debris. The ruins were discovered accidentally by the architect D. Fontana, during work between 1554 and 1600 but excavations began only in 1748, during the reign of Charles of Bourbon, King of the Two Sicilies. Today Pompeii is one of the most visited archaeological sites in the world and the excavations begun in the 18th century continue.

It was founded in the 4th century by shipwrecked sailors from a previous Roman expedition to Constantinople. Legend has it that the city takes its name from Amalfi, a nymph loved by Hercules and buried on these beaches at the behest of the gods. From the ninth century, first (in chronological order) among the maritime republics, it competed with Pisa, Venice and Genoa to control the Mediterranean Sea. Do not miss the Cathedral of Amalfi (monumental complex erected in the 9th century), the Arsenals (where very modern merchant and war ships were built) and the Paper Museum (where techniques imported from Arab countries were perfected).

5.00I had an unforgettable tour along the Amalfi Coast with Luigi. He was absolutely exceptional — sharing the history of the region, fascinating stories, and plenty of local insights along the way. He took us to stunning spots we would have never found on our own and gave truly valuable recommendations. The van was modern, spotless, and very comfortable, which made the whole experience even better. He was incredibly attentive, patient, and made everyone feel well taken care of. I highly recommend his services to anyone visiting the area. It was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip!

5.00My family traveled to Naples and had the most amazing experience with Luigi at Cammarota Viaggi. Our tour was custom made for our family of 3 adults and two kids. We toured exactly what we wanted and learned the history along the way. Luigi couldn’t have been nicer and shared his favorite restaurant with us on the Amalfi Coast in Positano. It was our favorite Italian meal. You will be more than happy traveling the country with him. His comfortable WiFi equipped large van with complementary cold water made it the perfect trip.

5.00We spent three days with Cammarota on an office trip with colleagues. The program was individually designed. Cammarota helped us a lot in the preparation of the trip with 15 people and worked extremely hard to adapt our program to the unfortunately bad weather conditions. The vehicles were well maintained, and the drivers were friendly and helpful. The suggestions for good local restaurants were also apt. We can recommend Cammarota at any time.

5.00We were a group of six. A senior couple and four young adults on a visit to Vesuvius, Pompeii from Naples until arrival at Atena Lucana for overnight stay. The couple had to solve a problem in Rome and were kindly rescued at the station in Napoli later. Many thanks to Luigi and the driver Gino.

5.00I had organized this tour with my American cousins for the first time in this area. For business reasons I could not participate and I entrusted them to Cammarota Viaggi. I couldn't have chosen better! Precision, professionalism, availability but also sympathy and extreme kindness! For me the top! 5.00The transportation services provided by Cammarota to our family and friends while we were in Ravello for our son's wedding were fabulous. The vehicles were clean and comfortable, and the drivers were on time, courteous and helpful. We would definitely use them again!

5.00From April 29th to May 4th we visited Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast in Italy. We were met at the airport by Luigi, our driver - a sunny and smiling Neapolitan. Thanks to his warm, caring and friendly attitude towards us, we felt wonderful and traveled with pleasure in his comfortable and well-equipped cars - WI-FI, water, candy. Luigi tells the story of his hometown and its surroundings in an fascinating and loving way. His correctness, professional competence and expediency are impressive. We had a misunderstanding with the hotel check-in in Naples, which he quickly resolved. We ordered him a transfer to the airport at the last minute and again the service was fulfilled.
