Zanzibar Butterfly Centre

The enclosure is one of Africa’s largest butterfly exhibits and provides residents and tourists of Zanzibar with an interactive and visual environment to learn about butterflies. At ZBC it is possible to experience butterflies feeding and flying very close at hand and to witness the complete life cycle of many species On this trip we are going to spend an hour to go stop and get the knowledge on how local villagers where educationaly trained to keep these spicies for there daily life and earn something for the villagers. Apart from that the butterfly undergo from egg to full grown species. Our friendly and knowledgeable guides will greet you on your arrival and during the tour will explain the background to the project and about butterfly life cycle and ecology It is unbelievable. This tour usually last about an hour but can be adapted to suit the visitor

One of the best days on Zanzibar! The organization of the tour was perfect, driver and guide listening, friendly and rich in information. The exceptional part was being received by a Pete village family and being invited to an authentic meal. The mangroves are fascinating and the canoe ride exceptional, thank you! The plus is that this place is not invaded by tourists. Real immersion.

It was a really well organized trip that includes so much within one day. I learned a lot about the beautiful nature of Zanzibar and its butterflies, including trying authentic Swahili food and receiving a glimpse of how the villagers live. I definitely recommend this trip to anyone who really wants to emerge and perceive the island’s rich biodiversity and culture, rather than just exploring the ocean. An adventure I will not forget. My favorite part by far was going into an archaeological cave hidden in a forest. The guides were also so lovely and knowledgeable, and really made sure you had a great time. Worth the money.

I had the best time on this excursion! Abdul came and picked me up at my hotel, and then we met Osman by Jozani forest. Osman planned the day so that we would not need to meet to many other tourists, and that I really appreciated. He had a lot of knowledge, and both him and Abdul spoke great English. Abdul also joined for some of the trip, and he took a lot of pictures for me. Since I’m a solo traveler that was really nice! Thank you so much for an amazing day!

The best ever tour guide experience with Othman, Khalid, Abdul and Said. Coastline took great care of us and showed us the wonders of Zanzibar! Excellent service and great communication. We were treated like queens with personalized tours and intimate experiences, and timely advice on changes to the planned excursions to accommodate weather.
