There's nothing more perfect than to start your exploration of Bangkok with a visit to the most well-known sight in the city: the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha).
With its grandeur and imposing architecture, it is one of the must see places for every visitor to the City of Angels.
The long-tail boat canal trip (approx. 2 hours) gives you the chance to experience a local part of Bangkok, far away from the crowded and well-known tourist areas. Get to see a part of Bangkok where you would never come on your own and experience life in Bangkok like it was 50 years ago!
Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
Public transportation options are available nearby
Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
Remember that the Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew are sacred places and you must dress appropriately. Shoulders and ankles need to be covered (for both men and women; sleeveless shirt with a scarf covering is also not allowed). No shorts, leggings, ripped jeans, slippers (flip-flops), or revealing tops, otherwise you won't be allowed in.
Not recommended for travelers with mobility issues since it might be too hard to get in and out the boat (there are no stairs at the piers).
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
The Grand Palace
Located at the heart of Bangkok, the Grand Palace was the former residence for King Rama I to King Rama V of the Rattanakosin Kingdom. Today, the place is used for hosting royal ceremonies and welcoming the king's guests, state guests, and other foreign dignitaries. You will visit the key attractions around the Grand Palace like the Coronation Throne Hall, Royal Reception Hall, Royal Funeral Hall, the Golden Chedi, and the Royal Pantheon. Wat Phra Kaew (known as the ‘Temple of the Emerald Buddha’ or locally as ‘Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram’) is located within the grounds of the Grand Palace and one of the most important Buddhist temples in Thailand. The temple enshrines Phra Kaew Morakot (the Emerald Buddha), the highly revered Buddha image meticulously carved from a single block of jade. PLEASE NOTE: Entrance fee of THB 500 per person is not included and has to be paid cash on day of the tour. Total time includes traveling time from the meeting point.
Baan Silapin
We will make a stop at Baan Silapin (The Artist’s House), located on the banks of Klong Bang Luang (Bang Luang Canal) on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, a hidden gem devoted to preserving Thai culture. Here you'll experience what life in Bangkok was like before the concrete jungle took hold. The wooden house, over 200 years old and lovingly restored by its owner, sits at the heart of a small community of rustic shophouses which are connected by a wooden walkway that follows the edge of the klong (canal). PLEASE NOTE: The total time includes traveling time from the Grand Palace to the pier and the time on the water. Actual time at Baan Silapin is approx. 30 minutes.

The Royal Palace and Temples were both unique and beautiful. An absolute pleasure to take in Thailand’s traditional artistry and history, curated by our knowledgeable and helpful guide Tak. Adding on a long tail boat tour of the city canals is a must. This allows you to glimpse into the private homes and businesses of true locals and avoid the gruelling city road traffic. A stop off at the Artist House in Bang Luang is well worth the experience.
