Hike Great Wall up from Jiankou section, after a few hours hiking, you will take cable car or toboggan down the Wall from Mutianyu section.

-You will experience two different sections of the Great Wall in one day," wild Wall "and good condition Wall; less crowd Wall and full of tourist Wall

-You will see the unrestored and rugged “Wild Wall” along with tastefully restored wall, making it a perfect hike for comparison and understanding more about the true Great Wall.

This is a Great Wall hiking day trip that is fun for the whole family or your group. Your private guide will meet you in the morning at your hotel, after around 1.5 hours drive then you will see the unrestored and rugged “Wild Wall” along with tastefully restored wall, making it a perfect hike for comparison and understanding more about the true Great Wall. Meanwhile this tour is an amateur photographer’s dream, you can take many fantastic pictures if the weather is good. The entire hiking duration for 5 hours, you need bring sunblock in Summer and some snacks and enough water for this trip. Picknic lunch during the hiking, round trip private transfer and entrance tickets are all included.

We had an unforgettable experience hiking the Great Wall with our awesome guide, Justin. We took the Jiankou to Mutianyu route— often referred to as the “Wild Wall” because it’s unrestored and wonderfully rugged. It was everything we hoped for and more. The hike gave us a chance to experience the Wall in near-total solitude—no crowds, no noise, just sweeping views and the breathtaking scale of this historic wonder. It felt like we had stepped back in time. Justin was the perfect guide for this kind of adventure. He has a calm, easygoing demeanor and was a pleasure to talk with throughout the hike. He shared fascinating insights about Chinese culture and history. We were traveling with our two kids (ages 12 and 15), and although the hike was moderately strenuous, they did great and found it just as rewarding as we did. Good shoes, water, snacks, sun protection (we hiked in July) and an adventurous adventure are all you need. If you’re looking for a unique, more authentic experience of the Great Wall—away from the tourist crowds—we can’t recommend this tour enough. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our whole family.

We just had a wonderful day exploring the Jiankou and Mutianyu parts of the wall with Justin. He was professional, friendly and informative and took such good care of us! Walking along the Jiankou part of the wall was such a great experience as we were completely on our own away from the crowds, a truly beautiful hike. The first hour is a steep incline and can be challenging for less fit people. We were considering to do it alone but we were very glad to have a guide to make sure we're going the right way (no signs) and to give us information about the wall. Make sure to take plenty of water with you as there's nothing on the way! Our driver Mr Li was also very lovely. The lunch was included and was very tasty!!!

Had an amazing hike with Catherine Lu tour group to the Wild Great Wall. We were pretty much the only group on this part of the wall which was nice to get away from the crowd. The tour guide Justin was amazing and treated us a great meal after the hike. The driver Mr. Lu was very professional.

This hike was incredible, seeing the wall in its unrestored form is a must. Justin was a great leader and so knowledgeable, he was giving us interesting facts the whole trip. He ordered multiple dishes for us for lunch afterwards and the food was delicious, some of the best we’ve had on our trip. We absolutely recommend this tour is was the highlight of our trip, thank you Justin!

Exceptional your with Justin. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better guide. Checked all the boxes of a great guide: attentive to us, super safe, very nice and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Justin as a tour guide and I’ll come back to do another tour with him!

The views were amazing! We loved hiking the wall with Justin and seeing two very different sections. We also enjoyed learning about the wall and China from Justin. Would highly recommend Catherine Lu tours and Justin as a tour guide.

An absolute recommendation. Our guide Justin was super nice and was able to tell us a lot about the history. The hike on the unrestored part without the crowds of tourists was a particular highlight. The food afterwards was delicious and more than enough for everyone. Would book this tour again at any time.
