Mike was the perfect guide during our recent custom, private tour of Normandy beaches. Visiting this area was on my 88-year-old father's bucket list, and Mike provided a truly unforgettable experience. His knowledge and expertise made WWII history come alive for my dad, brother and me. We so very much appreciated the flexibility and pleasant demeanor the Mike displayed as he cheerfully accommodated my aging dad's mobility issues. (And what a pleasure it was to get to know Mike’s lovely wife, Deb—who was the ultimate hostess during our stay at their wonderful Le Pont de la Pierre Vintage B&B which contains the must-see Women Of Valour WW2 Museum.)

We used Mike for our tour when we were visiting Normandy and it was the greatest experience! He was super flexible with pick up locations, great with the young kids in our group, and had so much knowledge. My husband is a military history, major, so having a tour guide who really knew more than he did was great 😃 we didn’t book a band of Brothers specific Tour, but because I had seen the show and I’m not super interested in history like the rest of our group, he made sure to point out specific spots from the show, which I really enjoyed! You can’t go wrong booking with Mike!

Mike picked us up at the train station. He is such a friendly, professional guide. He has extensive knowledge about WWII and the D-Day battle. He lives in the area and has led tours for many years. He took my dad and I to all of the sights and made the entire experience so memorable. He’s even an excellent photographer and made some of the best pictures of the two of us we have from the trip. He pointed out several film locations and discussed how various WWII movies haven’t necessarily been accurate. He timed our visit to the American Cemetery perfectly so that we could hear taps at 4 PM. On the way back to the train station, he was gracious enough to stop and help us buy wine and cheese for a civilized picnic on our train ride back to Paris. The whole day was lovey and so special!

We had a great 1/2 day tour with Mike. Starting with a super smooth process of booking and Mike picking us up at our hotel in Bayeux. He was able to keep all of us (including kids aged 11-15) interested and engaged throughout the tour. Certainly had lots of facts and history, but just as importantly was entertaining and engaging. Gave great recommendations for the rest of our time in Normandy and my only regret is that we didn't have more time. Would absolutely use Mike and Allied Victory Tours again.

Mike was amazing! I was so excited for this private tour and it did not disappoint. I felt like I learned so much more than I ever knew and couldn't wait to share what I learned with others.

D-Day tour that we had with Mike from Allied Victory Tours was one of the highlights of our Normandy visit. It was a full day dedicated to American operations. Mike was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and personable. We knew history of D-day but it was nothing comparing to how much interesting facts we have learned from Mike. The places he took us , the way he described the events, the depth of his knowledge and his passion left a long lasting impact on us. What we've learned and we've seen way exceeded our expectations. When we come back to Normandy we'll make sure to book a tour with Mike again. We highly recommend him.

We spent two days with Mike touring the American, British and Canadian D-Day Sites. We were traveling with friends and family, with boys ranging from 12yo-17yo and a number of adults. Mike took us to all of the major sites, both the human stories and the strategic locations, but was also flexible with the itinerary, working with us to visit any sites that we specifically wanted to visit. When it became apparent that my son was most interested in the weapons and tanks, he went out of his way to ensure that he saw them (even the random memorial on the side of the road) and was able to point out the unique characteristics of each one. I'm not a weapons person, and even I found it interesting. For my son, it was absolutely the highlight of our time in Normandy.

Visited Normandy in March 2025 with my wife and 15yo son. I had gotten a recommendation from friends to use Mike van den Dobbelsteen at Allied Victory Tours--and they were right! We had a private tour, Mike picked us up at our hotel in Bayeux promptly, and even helped us with our luggage as we were checking out that morning. We loaded up into his nice van and started off for the American-focused sites in Normandy. Mike was great, perfect English, funny, engaging, and receptive to what we wanted to do, even adapting on the fly a few times when we decided we wanted to see something off the beaten path. He knows where to go, knows the history, and was generally very fun to spend an amazing day with. And the private tour--it's the way to go. No waiting for 45 other people to get off and back onto the tour bus, slow-rumbling through small roads, only seeing pre-set tour options and sites. You see more, learn more, and get to do what you want with Mike. He got us to the American Cemetery just in time to see the playing of taps and lowering of the flags that afternoon, and then even dropped us off at the train station so we could move on to our next stop on our trip. Truly a great day with a great guide.
