Tyre was the great Phoenician city that reigned over the seas and founded prosperous colonies and it is one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world with many ancient sites, including the Tyre Hippodrome.
Sidon was one of the most important Phoenician cities, and it may have been the oldest.
Explore both cities in one day, hearing fascinating commentary about each spot without having to drive or plan an itinerary with a final stop at Maghdouché's most famous landmark, the tower of Our Lady of Mantara, which is a Marian shrine that is believed to have been the resting place of the Virgin Mary as she waited for Jesus while he preached in Sidon.

Sidon
Sidon, one of the oldest Phoenician cities, was founded in the 3rd millennium BC and became prosperous in the 2nd. Sidon was famous for its purple dyes and glassware and Jesus visited it. During the Crusades, Sidon changed hands several times and was destroyed and rebuilt.
Crusaders Sea Castle
The Sidon Sea Castle was built by the crusaders in the thirteenth century on a small island, connected to the mainland by a causeway, as a fortress of the holy land. It is one of the most prominent historical sites in the port city of Sidon, Lebanon. The castle was largely destroyed by the Mamluks in 1291 and was later restored by Fakhr el-Dine Maan II in the early 17th century. Old prints of the fortress show it to be one of great beauty, but little remains of the embellishments that once decorated its ramparts.

5.00A fantastic trip to historical sites and a very nice guide that did give a lot of information. Also showed us around in markets and the inner city of these small, beautifull and important cities in the history of Lebanon + way older. Even in the south of Lebanon we did feel very safe and loved every minute of the trip

5.00Very nice unique and memorable excursion to discover the big cities of the South with a very professional, warm and welcoming staff. Very good Price quality ratio and no hidden costs. A good authentic meal to eat like the Lebanese is also planned in the trip. I recommend 100%

5.00Tyre was the most impressive part of the trip, but everything was very nice. On the way to Sidon we stopped for breakfast at a very nice place with amazing food. All the local guides were super nice, and Hassane our guide during the elections whole tour was absolutely amazing.

4.00Comfortable vehicle, nice balanced itinerary, fun and knowledgeable guide and great food for lunch. What more do you need? It is a great time to visit as the usual traffic problems are almost never seen and the foreign exchange rate is extremely advantageous to tourists - not to mention that the country needs tourism now more than ever!

5.00I strongly recommend this tour company and especially Kamil! I booked twice with them. The first was to Baalbek, Anjar, and Ksara! It was a beautiful drive with excellent conversation and education along the way. The guides provided are very knowledgeable and friendly. I was lucky enough to have Kamil for two tours in a row showing not only excellent professionalism, but true Lebanese hospitality! The second tour being Sidon, Tyre, and Maghdouche. It’s a fun and easy way to see a huge part of Lebanon and the different influences involved both historically and today. Highly recommended! I loved every minute!

5.00We had 4 wonderful private tours with Kassim. Started early and went to the south, north and east from Beirut. He is a great driver and guide. Knows a lot, polite and trustworthy. If your going to Beirut, ask for Kassim at Lebanon Tours and Travel.
Awesome tour with local guide and a nice driver. They know lots of things about history and local context.
