5.00A great introduction to HK. We enjoyed our walk around from central taking in the new and old sites. A highlight was finding the lessor known dim secret eateries. Thanks Benny our guide for walking us around.

5.00Robert met us this morning as planned at Statute Square, from the initial whatsapp messages a day before, offering advice and suggestions, we knew we were on to a good thing. We weren’t wrong. Robert picked some attractions and sights for us to see after a few short minutes chatting, his knowledge of Hong Kong is exceptional, being a Dutch national with exceptional English and as we learnt, Cantonese, German and Dutch he is the perfect tour guide of HK. I guess living here and offering tours for more than 40 years helps!! What a fount of knowledge. His understanding of Hong Kong and its history is unsurpassed, the descriptions given were articulate, concise where required and lengthy when needed. We visited temples, the Peak, the slow rollercoaster (Funicular) local bars, restaurants, subway, train, tram and even a bus and shown all the historical sights anyone could want with exceptional explanations. He even knew the names of the artists who painted the walls in and around the older parts of town. All we can offer is a huge thank you to Robert and advise any and all to take this unscripted tour of Hong Kong. It’s worth every penny (which isn’t too much to start with). We will see you again. 5.00Benny gave us a long and interesting tour. He tailored it to our interests and told us many details about life and culture in Hong Kong, including details of the Man Mo temple. The tour gave us a great introduction with main attractions, over nice coffee places to hidden street art gems, from financial district to residential areas. Benny even shared some additional locations after the tour.

5.00I cannot say enough good things about our full day tour of Hong Kong with Benny of City Unscripted. First, the booking process included a detailed questionnaire regarding our interests, and everything we considered a “must see” or “could do without”. For us, it was History? Check. Architecture? Check. Markets? Sure, but we’ll skip the live chickens at the wet market. Public transportation or Uber? The former, and lots of it. And so on….. Then, we were able to choose our guide, based upon his or her background and reviews. This was definitely a first for us with a tour company. Once we decided on Benny, we immediately heard from him by email with follow up questions, and after some discussion we decided on an itinerary that felt fully customized. The tour itself (8 hours) was everything we asked for. We covered several areas of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, a perfect mix of tourist highlights and off the beaten path sights. We threw questions at Benny all day, which he was able to answer thanks to an obviously deep knowledge - and love - of his native city. And let’s not forget the delicious dim sum lunch and teahouse! We certainly got our steps in, but we always felt Benny was keeping a watchful eye on whether we were flagging a bit. It was a perfect day of touring, and we feel comfortable enough on the Metro and ferry to go out and do some more on our own. In sum, Benny and City Unscripted are highly recommended.
