We will begin our tour in the morning in Istanbul’s Old City, where we’ll visit some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, and the Basilica Cistern. Around midday, we’ll head to a high-quality, authentic Turkish/Ottoman restaurant for a delicious lunch. Afterward, we’ll take a leisurely walk through the famous Grand Bazaar and the surrounding streets filled with charming, traditional shops. We’ll enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn about Turkish carpets, ceramics, lamps, and other local handicrafts. To cap off our tour with an unforgettable experience, we’ll leave the most flavorful stop for last—the Spice Bazaar! Here, we’ll taste world-renowned Turkish delight, explore countless varieties of herbal teas and spices, and if you wish, you can do some shopping. When the tour ends, I’ll be happy to accompany you back to your hotel and bid you farewell.

5.00I was in Istanbul in September 2025 and decided to book this walking tour. Having travelled in the Balkans for about 3 weeks before this, I'd already been on several walking tours. This tour hosted by Hakan was easily the best on my trip, partly also due to the strong cultural/historical heritage that Istanbul itself possesses. We started out at the site of the old hippodrome with an introduction of the past life of Istanbul as a Roman settlement, which was then beautifully juxtaposed with information on the Hagia Sophia followed by the Blue Mosque, highlighting the transition of dynasties/historical periods. Along the way we also explored places that locals frequent -- Hakan was able to link various historical social practices to the present daily life of locals (drinking coffee, going to the baths, marriage etc) while also throwing in interesting observations on the modernisation of Turkey in the process which was excellent, even more so as his delivery was well-rehearsed and entertaining. We ended up in a fantastic location overlooking the Bosphorus (its a secret!) which was really peaceful despite the crowds elsewhere. The sun was intense but we were shaded by beautiful foliage, and it was the start to a great day. Kian

5.00Hakan was an excellent guide for the many attractions you can see in Istanbul. He had a lovely manner with the group who were all engaged with the information he gave. It was an excellent introduction to our stay in Istanbul and we followed up our tour by visiting many of the places/experiences Hakan suggested. He also gave a great insight to the general history and culture of the city. We would highly recommend this tour if you visit Istanbul.

5.00Hakan was a great guide. We had done a group walking tour with him and then hired him as a private guide for Topkapi Palace. He was knowledgeable, educated, spoke good English, and is a nice very guy also. Highly recommended!

5.00We came to Istanbul without a proper plan and doing Hakan's tour as the first thing was probably the best thing we did. He provided us with an idea of how the next few days should be and the recommendations were spot on. We crossed off all the food recommendations on his handy pfd guide and not a single one was off mark. Also, the hammam recommendations were amazing. - budget friendly and authentic. PS: Hakan's baklava recommendation is a must try. You cannot NOT fall in love with it. We even went back for seconds.
