Longmen Grottoes
Your tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby in Luoyang City at 8:30 AM. If you take a train to/from Luoyang, please provide your train information at the time of booking. After greeting, you will start this exciting Luoyang full-day tour. Longmen Grottoes is one of the most famous grottoes in China and a World Heritage Site enlisted the UNESCO. There are about 2,100 grottoes and niches, 40 crematory urns, 3,600 inscribed stone tablets and 100,000 Buddhist images and statues. These live cultural relics lie amid green mountains and serpentine rivers.
White Horse Temple
Lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant serving authentic Chinese dishes, very popular among local people. In the afternoon, visit White Horse Temple, backed by Mangshan Mountain and facing the Luohe River. White Horse Temple is regarded as the cradle land of Buddhism in China. In history, highly accomplished Buddhist monks from China, even world renowned Buddhist monks from abroad used to pay visits to White Horse Temple in pursuit of Buddhism inspirations and wisdom. When the tour ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

4.00The White Horse Temple is definitely worth visiting. If you go during holidays, it's better to buy tickets online to avoid long queues at the ticket counter - entry with pre-purchased tickets is quick. Parking is very convenient with many parking lots available at 10 yuan for unlimited time. Not sure about pet policies, though some visitors were seen bringing pets inside. The temple is very popular with many worshippers burning incense. Dining is also convenient with many restaurants nearby.

5.00I hired Fey for a private tour of the Longmen Grottoes and White Horse Temple just before the start of Golden Week, so there were no crowds and it was lovely. (note: if you go during popular times of the year, lines will be long--there's nothing the guides can do about it, so it's your choice.) Fey was very informative and also gave me advice about Luoyang city and food, etc. The restaurant chosen for lunch was also delicious. Highly recommended.

4.00The guide Cherry was very knowledgeable and gave all the information about the various tour sites. I only wish the information was communicated prior that when they advertise "Private", it is quite literally for the person who booked it - as in single adult in the car with a personal driver, personal guide and a car at your disposal. I booked it thinking it would be a small private group of 6-8 adults - but oh well.

5.00Fantastic tour guide Gerry and safe and sensible driver Mr Lee. Gerry is really passionate and knowledgeable about the Longmen Grottos and the White Horse Temple. The sites and their history are amazing. Nice lunch in a local restaurant I notified the tour company in advance I am vegetarian - and a nice meal of several tasty dishes was served. Very accommodating in adapting the tour to meet my needs as I was arriving from Xi'an by train. Smooth pick up and drop off from / to the Luoyang Longmen Station with the tour condensed from 8 to 6.5 hours, but the day didn't feel rushed.

5.00Our guide and driver were excellent. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and she was able to tell us many interesting facts about the sites. The Luoyang Grottos was well worth the walk. My only caveat is that you need to be able to walk for a couple of kilometres and climb quite a few stairs. The White Horse Monastey is beautiful. There is a lot of interesting buildings to see and the landscaping is beautiful. The lunch we were served was very tasty and filling. Altogether a good day.
