Sigiriya & Pidurangala Rock
Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress
Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress located near the Dambulla town in the Central province of the island. It is also known as Sinha-giri or Lion Rock, a name reached due to the shape of the rock that looks like a lion lying down. Entrance to the rock fortress is through the lion’s paws and when climbed up the stairs, it takes you up to an ancient wonderland. According to histories, the fortress was built during 5th century and has been recognized as one of the listed heritage sites of UNESCO. The frescos painted by the king, mirror wall, gardens on top of the rock, the pool in the garden complex are picturesque.
Pidurangala Rock
Embark on a journey to atop a mountain hidden in the acres of thick jungle, Pidurangala rock is a true nature’s retreat to relive and rejuvenate under unspoilt nature. Trek through the narrow brick and stone steps to reach the top which will unfold some of the best wildlife moments. The ruins and the large Buddha statue and the monastery on the top will add the right dose of historical moments to your journey. Because the place is one of the most ancient cave temples in Sri Lanka. Pidurangala Sri Lanka rock is located in Sigiriya and the mountain is only a few kilometres away from famous Sigiriya Lion rock fortress.

Dambulla town, at once reminds of the Sigiriya rock fortress to anyone, although it is an ancient city with large number of historical heritages. Dambulla Cave Temple, Buddhist Museum & Museum of Wall Paintings,Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Tombs, Pidurangala Rock and Minneriya National Park are few of the attractions in the town. Dambulla is also home to the largest rose quartz mountain in South Asia. Dambulla Dedicated Economic Centre is a busy market with wholesale and retail traders and due to its location at a major junction, Dambulla is also the centre of vegetable distribution in the country.
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
Kandy is an ancient city situated on a plateau surrounded by mountains. The warm and cool tangled climate gives you an opportunity to enjoy a refreshing change from the tropical heat of the rest of the island. The city is filled with scenic tea plantations and bio-diverse rainforests. Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, Udawattakele Forest Reserve and Arthur’s Seat are the picturesque greeneries with species of birds. The city’s heart is scenic Kandy Lake and Kandy is popular for sacred sites, including the Temple of the Tooth celebrated with the grand Esala Perahera annual procession in the months of June/July. National Museum of Kandy, Kandy City Center and Kandy Market are also places of interest.

5.00This was our second visit to Sri Lanka and our second time using Shalika. He was excellent. Service was extremely professional and very helpful. We traveled with two kids under 7 and he was amazing with them. Made the trip so much more memorable as he engaged with the kids. We entrusted Shalika with our hotel bookings and they were great. We had an issue with our final hotel before leaving but Shalika helped us resolve the issue. Can’t recommend him enough!

5.00Shalikha is an outstanding tour guide- truly the best. We did a 6-day tour with him, and he was excellent throughout. He explained everything clearly and thoughtfully, and he was especially great with our children, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Shalikha also arranged all of our hotels and entrance fees. He took us to some really memorable restaurants too. He was incredibly patient, flexible, and always ready to help with anything we needed. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, and family-friendly guide.

5.00We were a group of 4 friends of 22 years old for a week and without a doubt the best part of the trip was meeting our guide Shalika. He took us to amazing places, we discovered incredible places in the country and he took us to very good local restaurants. We had a lot of problems with our hotel reservations and shalika found us at the last minute even better hotels and super good prices!!! no doubt, if we come back we will come back with him !!!! We had quite a busy schedule planned and he was always punctual, giving us lots of explanations and was good at showing us around the beautiful spots in Sri Lanka, also offering us some extra sights to see. 5.00We were a group of 5 swedes that hired driver from the company for our whole trip. Did not have Shalika driving, and our’s did not speak English very well but he was an excellent driver and very attentive to our requests. We felt safe and had an amazing time in Sri Lanka, can absolutly recommend this company.

5.00Shalika is the BEST tour guide I had on my whole trip. He was personable (great English compared to other drivers I had) and very flexible with itinerary. He was very excited to show off everything his country had to offer even if it may have been more a local spot or celebration. I was traveling solo so he made me very comfortable to trust him and let him steer the ship. I was part of New Year celebrations, met locals I could talk to, ate amazing food and saw the lost incredible beauty all with Shali leading the way. He’s got a sense of humor but is very poised and professional as well. Literally had the best time of my life and think about it often. I want to go back and encourage everyone to use Shalika! Top notch!!
