  Our driver was fantastic. He was so polite and patient and helpful. I am so glad we opted for the (more expensive but worth it) private tour as it was a three hour drive from Beijing due to extra traffic because of the festival that day. The vehicle (a five seater) was so comfortable, it was like flying business class. We had snoozes in each direction of the drive. Much better than being cramped on a bus seat, imo. The queues for the cable car were terrible. Avoid festival days or holidays of any kind. It took about two hours from the first queue (for the shuttle bus) to reach the wall. It’s a site well worth visiting but it is a long day. And you’ll probably be so tired the next day that you’ll want to sleep in and rest so consider that in your schedule.

  I loved my tour experience with Shan!!! He went the extra mile when he picked us up from the hotel and waited for us a bit longer than expected. He also recommend us where to eat in the great wall.   What an amazing tour! Had a long layover in Beijing and this was the perfect, private tour to fill that down time. My guide Tony was very responsive, professional and friendly. He contacted me right after booking to arrange the meeting and provide some tips. For example he suggested starting a little earlier to avoid the crowds (this was very important as I found out). On the appointed day he arrived promptly at the meeting spot in the airport with a sign so there was no way to miss him. Tony then drove us to the Great Wall section in a comfortable, spacious minivan, even providing water and snacks. He answered questions along the way in excellent English and was very knowledgeable. The drive was about an hour and a half, without much traffic since we were north of the city. At the Great Wall, Tony took care of everything including purchasing tickets for entrance as well as for the chair lift and sled ride. These are quite fun and recommended, but they take only cash so Tony recommended to get some cash at the airport ATM, which came in handy. Tony rode up and walked along the wall with me, answering more questions and taking pictures. He also allowed ample free time to explore on my own. The Great Wall itself is incredible and words don’t do it justice. It is steep in places and can get very hot in the summer so definitely have good walking shoes and maybe a sun umbrella. After looking around as much as I wanted, we took the toboggan sleds down, which was great. Walking on the wall works up an appetite so we stopped for some early lunch and souvenir shopping. While going back I noticed there was a huge crowd of people in line, way more than when we arrived, so the timing of our visit was perfect to avoid those massive lines! Then we headed back to the airport with a comfortable amount of time for my connecting flight. Overall it was such a wonderful and low stress tour, with almost no waiting for anything. Don’t hesitate or think twice, if you have a long early morning layover in Beijing this is the tour and Tony is the guide for you. Just go!

  100% recommend this private tour to see the Great Wall! Our tour guide, Tony, was super friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He picked us up at our Beijing hotel where we had approximately a 90 minute drive to the wall entrance. The van ride was very comfortable and went by quickly as Tony offered background information and answered questions. When we arrived, Tony had premiere parking that saved a long uphill walk from the public parking lot and shuttle bus area. He coordinated all the tickets and waited with us in line. We took a chair lift up to the wall, which in itself was really fun with great views. Once on top we had plenty of time to explore and take pictures. Tony gave history and also knew all the best photo spots, where he took many pictures of our family. Once finished, Tony escorted us down and we grabbed a quick bite to eat before heading back. The wall is obviously a major attraction and on many people’s bucket lists. If you are going to go, this tour was a super pleasant and easy experience, and I definitely would do it again! In fact, next time we are in Beijing I plan to use the same operator and request Tony again for other regional tours.

  If you only have a few hours for the Great Wall, I highly recommend this. Shane was extremely courteous, knowledgeable, and kind. His background and experiences made him craft an unforgettable afternoon for me at the Mutianyu Great Wall of China.

  What an amazing tour! We only had 5 hours before our flight and David delivered! He was so friendly and patient. Made sure we got great photos. My only recommendation is do not take this tour if you have walking limitations of any kind. Also I you take the lift be sure to smile as you get closer. They will take a photo you probably want to buy. The view was beautiful. Thank you David for adding another wonderful experience to our list!
