Negombo Fish Market
Negombo was home to Sri Lankan fishermen and women who engaged in traditional fishing methods long before the city became a renowned beach destination with hundreds of beach resorts lining its sandy shore. This large fish market, located at the western end of Negombo's seashore, is the center of all morning action. The Negombo Fish Market is one of Sri Lanka's largest and most important markets, which drives Negombo's economy.

5.00I booked this trip one day in advance and it was the best choice! We had such an amazing time and the host was so sweet. When we wanted to take pictures they stopped and made sure we had what we wanted. For example: when we were driving home in the tuk tuk, we saw a beautiful sunset and wanted pictures so they stopped immediately and let us do our thing 🤣. They were really nice and the fruits were delicious! 🥥🍉🍌 Also the stop with the monkeys was amazing! Really enjoyed everything!

5.00Better than whistlestop but certainly worthwhile. The fish market is a MUST!!! Our guide arrived on time, gave us freedom to move around at each stop, was easy to understand and very amiable. Great fellow, well done, a credit to your town and country

A morning with Nishan!

5.00Nishan picked us up promptly from our hotel in Negombo in his well maintained and great to ride in tuk tuk. He showed us the highlights of his city including the Buddhist temple and fish markets. There was also the option of a lagoon tour which we completed. Nishan came with us on the boat and he and the captain prepared some lovely local fruit and coconut water while we waded in the low water (only ankle/mid calf deep) Nishan also gave us other options for activities in the area as well. After our tour, he took us to a lovely local Sri Lankan restaurant. It was full of locals and the staff showed us how they eat their food and the food combinations. It was wonderful. Nishan is a local and has grown up in Negombo - it was great we were able to support a local! Definitely spend a few hours on tour with Nishan.
