The Night Rainforest Hike provides you with a fantastic Rainforest Experience with big surprises as 80 percent of the rainforest wildlife is nocturnal, so this tour offers a great advantage for spotting local wildlife in its natural environment.

We provide flash lights for the two hour hike in search of local wildlife. This is a small group tour where we walk for two hours in the Tropical Cloud Forest in the dead of night.

We use professional optical equipment to be able to observe in detail the incredible inhabitants of the tropical forest. This tour provides a good opportunity to observe animals such as, two-toed sloth, side-striped palm pit viper, orange knee tarantulas, kinkajus, nine-banded armadillo, bats, bio-luminescent mushrooms, anoles, olingos, spotted owl, sleepy monkeys, leaf-kadids and many more.

Johnny provided lots of great info on just about everything not to mention lots of laughs. It was impressive how much wildlife he was able to spot that we would have never seen. Great hospitality, highly recommend!

Johnny went out of his way to provide transportation for us from our hostel - the whole time he spoke passionately and answered all questions about nature, local life, etc. He has an incredible eye for spotting wildlife - we saw Kinkajou, owls, vipers, various indigenous frogs and insects. Was laughing and learning the whole time, 10/10 would recommend!

We booked with a third-party tour company and due to an error they made in our reservation, they scheduled us for a private night tour with Johnny. I am SO glad they made that mistake because our tour with Johnny was the absolute highlight of our trip. Johnny is a real Tico, he has been roaming these forests since he was a young kid and he know his stuff. We were astounded at his ability to spot wildlife from so far away in total darkness. Sloths, a tree frog, tarantula, snakes, an owl (my favorite), weird and interesting insects, sleeping toucans, lizards and, did I mention the sloths? He was vigilant about our safety and making sure that we were enjoying ourselves. His love and enthusiasm for sharing his beautiful country with other people is obvious. Not only was he an awesome tour guide, but exemplified the spirit of Pura Vida by helping us out in with a transportation jam after our tour. Book a tour with him, you will be amazed by what you see and highly entertained by this gifted, charming guide.
