Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
You will be picked up from your beach hotel/ Nairobi hotel in the early morning hours 5:00AM and depart by road to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. You will enjoy an amazing game drive along the way. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will have lunch, relax for a while and then head out for a game drive in the sanctuary searching for lion and other wildlife, until sunset. You will then return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay at Salt Lick Lodge. This lodge is especially memorable for its imaginative structure. A complex of rondavel sit on stilts over a series of water holes. These two-story towers, topped by peaked thatch roofs connected by open-air-bridges, create an African fantasy of a medieval fortress. The lodge has been built with game viewing in mind. The structure provides you will a panoramic view of the sanctuary; offering spectacular views of the landscape and wildlife.

5.00Nelly assisted us when we had a scheduling conflict, she was professional and very helpful! I also gave her name to some friends who raved about their experience with her. Edward our driver was knowledgeable, kind and most important…..an excellent driver.

5.00Elijah was our guide and he was quite knowledgeable about the animals and their habitats. He also was a very good driver. Taita Holls Resort was a pleasant surprise. Clean, friendly staff, decent buffet restaurant. The landscaping, outdoor areas and the large infinity pool were especially nice. The safari itself was solid - saw lion cubs and their mamas, a giraffe, zebras and lots of other types of antelopes. Lots of baboons, too. Sadly no elephants were spotted, but that was because of the rain. We participated in the night safari but unfortunately didn’t see any large animals, only snakes, a hare and a mongoose. I would recommend this tour and suggest that you talk with the guide about what you want to do and see. They can be flexible and give you good advice.

5.00Nico took care of us from the get go. Navigating the Port of Mombasa was tricky on foot, but it helped to know he was right there waiting for us. Nico was a great driver, and made every effort to find us lions, elephants, giraffes and so much more—even some great Kenyan coffee to take home. We are grateful for this amazing experience.
