Goreme National Park

The Goreme Open-Air Museum resembles a vast monastic complex composed of scores of refectory monasteries placed side-by-side, each with its own fantastic church. It is obviously the first sight to be visited by any traveler in Cappadocia, standing as it does in the very center of the region with easy access from all directions. It is only 15 minutes walk (1.5km, 1 mile) from Goreme village center. It contains the finest of the rock-cut churches, with beautiful frescoes (wall paintings) whose colors still retain all their original freshness. It also presents unique examples of rock hewn architecture and fresco technique. The Goreme Open Air Museum has been a member of UNESCO World Heritage List since 1984, and was one of the first two UNESCO sites in Turkey.

Denis was a fantastic tour guide! He knew the history well, was very clear and concise. He even brought us to a local pottery crafter where we learned about the pottery and ceramics making process. Everything was perfect with Denis and Soundocia Tours.

We had an amazing private full day. Our guide, Harun was the best! He made sure we saw everything on our list, made a few incredible suggestions, and we loved hearing all of his stories. The van was spacious and luxurious, and they had plenty of bottled water to keep us hydrated. The included lunch was delicious, and the last stop for coffee up on the overlook was a fantastic way to end the day. It was my husband’s birthday and they even arranged with the restaurant for a special birthday cake at lunch, making the day even more amazing. I highly recommend booking your private tour with Soundocia Tours.

This was a wonderful tour experience. We had the privilege of spending Christmas day with Gockan and thankfully, he was very accommodating to me and my travel companion. He gave us a marvelous experience and took us to see the region. The tour was tailored to our interests. If you are looking for a Turkish Tour guide, I would highly recommend working with Gockan. He provided the historic, economic, and cultural perspective of the things we were seeing.
