If you’re looking for an engaging and informative tour that covers the complex history of Riga but also explores what it is like to live here today, then this is the tour for you. We will not miss any of old Riga’s most famous landmarks on our walk including St Peter’s Church, Town Hall Square and Dome Square, but don’t expect a dry history lesson. On this tour, you’ll find out about the surprising origins of the Latvian language, the fate of churches during the Soviet occupation and the little known history of Latvia’s symbol of independence.
This is both a personal and a comprehensive tour of the old town. I love telling people about my city and, having travelled a lot myself, I know how enriching an authentic local perspective can be.

5.00It was excellent. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, interesting and articulate. We learnt so much about historical, political, social & cultual aspects of Riga. Enjoyed by everyone in our group of 10. He was patient and engaging when we asked more questions between stops. He was brilliant.

5.00Yesterday morning we had an interesting private tour of Riga, with Jazeps as our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. He covered its history, economics, architecture and culture — including useful sidelights along the way. Because it was a private tour, he had time to give in-depth answers to our questions and to personalize it for our interests. He also gave us invaluable museum and restaurant tips, which enriched our time in Riga. We would highly recommend booking this Private Walking Tour!

5.00Our guide Edvards showed us around the old town. We learned the history of all the buildings and their background. We also learned about the history of Latvia and Riga. Edvards was incredibly well-read and was also able to answer all the questions we asked. If you visit Riga, this tour is a must, as it will give you a more general education.

5.00We had a great tour with Edvards who was very friendly and full of information. We did this in February and Riga was snowy however this didn’t deter us and Edvards took us nice and slow through Riga old town. He gave us a lot of information and made it fun by asking us many questions to guess their answers in a quiz format which we loved (we got them all wrong but he was very nice about it!). Would definitely recommend this as it gives you great insights into not only Latvia’s history but also that of the whole Baltics region.
