This PRIVATE San Sebastian city and coastal tour gives you the opportunity to experience the amazing Basque city of San Sebastain. San Sebastian is one of the most beautiful and elegant cities in Europe. The city has some of the best gourmet pintxo (tapas) bars in the the region, a quaint old quarter, and an absolutely stunning beach in the city center. You will also experience the dramatic and rugged coastline of the Basque Country where we will stop for some visually stunning photo opportunities. We make a stop to see ancient Flysch cliff formations of Zumaia and the GeoPark. The scene overlooking the Atlantic Ocean will leave a lasting impression. This was also a shooting site for season 7 of the Game of Thrones television show. Lastly, we will stop off in the small port city of Getaria for lunch (not included) where you will have the chance to taste some of the finest grilled fish/seafood in Europe!

-We begin this Basque experience with a guided tour of San Sebastian. We will first walk to Zurriola beach before heading to the old quarter of the city. Zurriola is a great place to watch the surfers and enjoy the beautiful Atlantic Ocean! -We offer a detailed historical overview of the city explaining the unique fiestas, culture and traditions found in the elegant city by the sea. You will also get to see the second beach of San Sebastian called La Concha where Isabella II of Spain chose to build her royal palace.
Getaria Fishing Port
The beautiful fishing port on the Basque coast famous for the Txakoli (local white wine), fishing fleet, old quarter and of course the amazing seafood restaurants.

She was lovely, extremely knowledgable, and shared so much insight into Basque culture. The lunch in Getaria was absolutely delicous. Highly recommend The Best of Basque! Eskerrik asko!!!

5.00We traveled to several towns and cities and saw the beautiful coast and places we never would’ve found on our own. Our guides were passionate about the culture, history, and the culinary offerings of the region. We Learned so much and got to experience Some very special Basque traditional meals. We were with the guides for four days and we highly recommend that amount of time. Our guides were also energetic, Flexible and friendly. I only regret that we did not have more time. The Basque country was our favorite part of Spain

5.00Olaia was a great guide for our all day private tour. When faced with a sail away time for our cruise ship that was an hour earlier than expected she quickly made adjustments that still allowed us to cover all of our areas of interest. She is a treasure.

5.00I would highly recommend The Best of Basque tour company! We took three tours with them and each one exceeded our expectations. The Bilbao Food Tour was a small group of ten people. We went to five pintxo bars, ate two delicious pintxos at each location and had wine as well. We particularly enjoyed Txakoli, a wine specific to this region. Our guide Leire was enthusiastic and full of information about and pride in her city. Our private Bilbao Architecture Tour gave us a great background of the city’s history. Janire is a history teacher so the information was perfect! We also rode the funicular to get a bird’s eye view of Bilbao. Although it rained during our private San Sebastián and Coastal Route tour, we still had a fun time! We sampled an amazing custard pastry, walked around San Sebastián and visited other beautiful locations. We had a perfect lunch of freshly grilled turbot. When our tour finished, Zach went above and beyond to help us with a travel issue that had nothing to do with the tour. If you visit this region, taking a tour with the Best of Basque is a must do!

5.00We had an outstanding guide Olaia for our San Sebastián and Coastal Route Tour on September 3. Olaia is from the Basque region and provided a great history of the Basque region and its unique culture and language. She is wonderfully personable and friendly, and is a very experienced guide. We felt as though we were traveling with a member of our family. I cannot imagine a more enjoyable day than the one we had with Olaia. Zach, one of the owners of The Best of Basque, was diligent and responsive as we planned this tour. He always replied in less than 24 hours to my questions and efficiently handled payment for this tour. The Best of Basque is highly recommended for your tours in the Basque region, whether it’s a food tour and daylong tour through this beautiful region of Spain.

5.00Zachary picked us up at our hotel in St Jean de Luz, took us on tours of the Hondarribia fishing village and the Petritegi Cider House, then dropped us at our new hotel in Bilbao. We hired his company in 2024 to transport us from San Sebastian, Spain to Bilbao with a coastal tour and lunch.
