We invite you to come learn surfing at a beach that looks like a postcard. Tamarindo has excellent conditions for beginners on a daily basis. It's easy to learn here and it's easy to enjoy it.
In just one lesson, you can pop up on your board and ride waves!
We offer surfing lessons for all levels, for individuals and groups. You can also choose to take a 3-day mini course, or a full course of 5 days surfing.
No matter what you choose, hang easy knowing that all equipment and a qualified instructor are included with all packages.

We will meet at our surf club on the beach You will get a locker for your belongings and a rash guard. At the beginning of the class you will get a theory lesson about: -Paddling -Popping up -Board Position -Stance -Safety After practicing popping up on the board on land, we will go ride some real waves and have fun ! Your professional guide is with you all the time and helps you improve from wave to wave and enjoy

5.00We were beginners aged 62, 66 and 70 and we managed to get up and run on the waves from the first try. The monitors (2 for 3 people) always smiling were dedicated, adapted to the level of each and more than met our expectations. They encouraged and congratulated us. We highly recommend them. 5.00Bobby and his team were great instructors for our 3 kids (ages 9-14) . Bobby knows the beach well and adjusted the lessons time schedule to the kids level and tide schedule. Overall great

5.00I highly recommend Salty Smile surf school. My kids (ages 20 and 18) and I took the 5-day surf lesson package, and by the end of the week we were all regularly catching waves and turning. Bobby and Bar are patient, kind, and full of recommendations on high quality food and experiences in Tamarindo. Bobby is also an excellent surf coach, providing high quality feedback after each wave, helping each of us steadily improve throughout the week.
If I could give 1000 stars, I would!

5.00We initially chose Salty Smiles because it was very close to our bnb, and also because their sessions are 120 minutes vs. 90 minute sessions offered by other larger companies, and we are SO HAPPY that we did. We could not have asked for a better experience. This is a small business owned by a young couple, Bobby and Bar, who are both incredibly kind and knowledgeable! The two of us did a private lesson, which started with stretching, warm-up, and going over the basics on the board with Bar. Then, once we got the technique down we went to the beach right across the street to surf with Bobby. Bobby was extremely attentive and encouraging, watching our form closely and giving us pointers after each wave! We both went from complete beginners to surfing all the way to the beach without falling! It was easy to tell that Bobby and Bar do what they do out of love and passion for the sport as well seeing the smiles on our faces as we built confidence! After our session, Bobby and Bar sat down with us to give us advice for the rest of our time in Tamarindo to ensure that we had the best possible stay here! Surfing with Salty Smiles was by far the most fun we had in Tamarindo! We were both beaming from ear-to-ear on our walk back to our bnb and planning when we can come back!

5.00Bobby and Bar were so so nice and welcoming Bar was an amazing teacher, she was very patient and gave us great tips More than that they both know so much about Tamarindo and have great recommendations We had so much fun during the surf lessons and learned a lot only with 3 classes
