First, what is a private group surf lesson? Learning to get up on waves, fall with style, and get back up again, all in a fun group. These lessons are nature classes in the water where you & your buddies can jump in and up with both feet and share something unique together.
The first lesson is as exciting for beginning surfers as it is important. You get to know the water, your board, and the valuable information from our instructors that you can take on your adventures chasing waves.
Our experienced team of characters is a bonus! They are there to make the learning process exciting, unforgettable, and full of smiles.
The tropical pacific shores in Nayarit bring us fun and friendly waves all year. You will catch your first wave during the first lesson and there is nothing like sharing that feeling with your group at our virgin surf beach La Lancha.

La Lancha is an unspoiled, captivating blue-water surf beach that stands out among destinations in the Sayulita and Punta Mita area. Our surf shop is located at the entrance of La Lancha, where you will have more than 300 boards to choose from. From the shop, we embark on a brief jungle walk, carrying your surfboard for approximately 10 minutes. While our instructor can assist with the board, absolute guarantee cannot be provided. The dynamics of our surfing experience vary based on your skill level, as outlined below. Following your surf session, we retravel the same route, rinse off, and return to our Sayulita location. - **For First-Timers, Beginners, and Kids (6 years and above): ** Our professional certified coaches, along with the gentle waves, create optimal conditions for learning. - **For Intermediate and Advanced Surfers: ** Guests can choose from a diverse range of high-quality surfboards. Guided by Professional ISA certified co-hosts, they ensure you reach the optimal peak in the given conditions, equipped with the right tools to enhance your surfing skills.

5.00We had an excellent experience with WildMex surf lessons. Our lesson was me, our nine year old son and thirteen year old daughter, and the instructors were excellent. We started with some discussion of the surfboard, and very specific instructions on how to navigate in the water and how to get up, and then practiced on land. Then when we were in the water, we were all able to get up very quickly, and do a lot of surfing despite being absolute beginners. Would definitely return.

5.00My family of 4, all beginners, 2 adults, 2 boys, ended up going on a big surf day. Lalo, Pascal, and Guille kept the boys safe and having fun. They kept the energy up and worked hard to get us standing (or attempting to!). We would happily try with the WildMex team another visit.

5.00We got to the WildMex location a little early and were warmly greeted by Maria. We had enough time to take a walk down the winding trail that leads to the beach at La Lancha. The walk itself only takes around 10 minutes and was full of interesting sights (colorful little crabs, jungle-like foliage and friendly people.) Be prepared to walk over 2 or 3 narrow walkways. I took the trail bare-foot and had no issue at all. You will be carrying a surf board on your way to the beach for your lesson. Our surf instructor Joe was very friendly and thorough and had an overall positive/happy vibe. This was my friend's first experience surfing (at age 70) and with Joe's guidance, he did really well! The waves at La Lancha were nice and gentle for beginners, but expect to be a little sore afterward (in a good way) if this is your first time. :D Overall I would highly recommend WildMex and plan to rent equipment from them next time I'm in the area.

5.00I took lessons 4 days in a row. I worked with Guillermo the first 3 days and he was amazing. He was so respectful and taught me so much. I was nervous having a male instructor but he quickly set me at ease and made me feel comfortable. Then, on the 4th day I went out with Karen because I saw her surfing the day before and she helped me book my classes. We had such a fun day, I learned so much! I hope she continues to teach because she is a natural teacher. Also all the instructors out there help you and if you ask for tips they give them to you. I highly recommend Wild Mex. Guillermo, Joe, Karen, Lalo all a great time and they really teach you to surf! Also, we saw turtles, and pelicans and a whale! Enjoy the walk down. It’s beautiful and a fun little adventure. Enjoy!

5.00What a fun experience for the family it was me and my two boys (13 and 11). Ceasar was our coach for the time and he made it very easy for the three of us to all catch a lot of waves. As we were beginners being able to surf by the end made it a ton of fun. It did get busy by the time we ended. Also there were multiple people who just rented a surf board and were out there without a guide that we never saw even catch a wave. Highly recommend getting a coach.
Just do it! Surf days are the best days!

5.00We had the BEST experience with Wildmex! My husband and (13y/o) daughter did a 3 day surf camp with Emanuel at La Lancha. He was knowledgeable, experienced, fun & most of all made our daughter feel comfortable and confident! She loved surfing with Emanuel so much we requested an additional 1 on 1 surf lesson with him for our last day in Punta Mita. It was her favorite day all week! We also had Sophie (their resident photographer) take some photos of our surf days and some candids of our family, and I'll treasure those pics forever! Worth every penny! Both Emanuel and Sophie felt like friends by the end and we hope to be back, this time next year!

5.00After renting boards from several spots around Sayulita/Punta de Mita area, I can say this place stands out. impressive variety of boards—whatever you’re looking for, chances are you’ll find the perfect fit. What really exceptional is the staff. I felt like I’d been surfing with these guys for years. Every single person I met was friendly, knowledgeable, and just awesome to be around. Shoutout to Emilio and Leo at the front desk, super helpful and genuinely great dudes! Went above and beyond and even helped me with things totally unrelated to the rental—like giving hotel tips and finding a pair of lost shades. I took a private sesh with Jacob, and it was next-level. He’s an incredible instructor guided me around La Lancha point, gave me super helpful tips and placed me exactly where I needed to be. (I talk video game precision) I ended up coming back every day and will absolutely return next time I’m in town. Bonus points: offering fair board insurance, and they’ve got some really cool merch too, t-shirts, shorts, caps. Thanks for everything bros! 🤙🏽

5.00Had some confusion about the meeting place but the team and communication skills were great. We ultimately missed our lesson but made it to the beach to go out on our own. The instructors seemed enthusiastic and it looked like pretty much everyone caught a wave or two.

5.00WildMex Surf is the go-to company for surfing in the Sayulita & Punta Mita area! The shuttle service was safe and offered a great opportunity for groups to create camaraderie. My instructor Daan was so chill and and made my session fun & relaxing. He is great at pointing out opportunities to surf better and more efficiently. I cannot recommend WMS & Daan enough!
