5.00My husband and I have visited Cozumel several times on cruises and generally limit ourselves to the dock and downtown areas. We wanted something different this time. We met JC (Jose) at the designated pickup point right across from the terminal and off we went in his comfortable air-conditioned car. We traveled the road that dissects the island to get to our first destination for tequila tasting. There, the guide walked us through an explanation of agave horticulture and tequila distilling and, of course, taught us how to sample tequila. It was both educational and enjoyable. We visited a second tequila showroom and did a little tasting there as well. While we were in the car traveling from location to location, JC told us about Cozumel, giving us background on the size of the island, its population, its lack of crime (good to know) and different information that gave us a much fuller sense of the place and people. After the tastings we went to a beach location on what I would call the wild side of the island. Pristine and unspoiled because much of the island has been set aside as a preserve. We enjoyed delicious mojitos under a sunny blue sky and watched the ocean waves. Then it was back to town for the most delicious tacos. You knew you were in Mexico eating these. Without JC, we wouldn't have found these more local places. He was informative and lots of fun at the same time. And we found he has a heart of gold, taking in stray dogs and cats (we found that out while talking about our dog). Go on this tour and see more of Cozumel with a great guide.

5.00So happy we chose to do this tour instead of going to one of the many resorts on the island. Our guide JC was great! He shared so much about the island and the culture. We felt like we got to see a lot of things that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. The tequila tasting, fresh tortillas and chocolate were fabulous. We got to stop and have a drink at a couple other places too. Had the best mojito ever and then we finished everything with some great authentic tacos.

5.00This tour was so much more than tacos and bar hopping. J Carlos made the tour incredible. My husband and I love learning about the history of places and J Carlos did a great job and stopping along different points and giving us information. We stopped for a tequila tasting which was a very informative tour about tequila and how it's is made. We could have stopped at another one but opted for more time at the beach . We got a massage thete which was amazing. We headed back to town for our tacos which were delicious! There is no strict schedule so you can make it what you like!

5.00When originally booked, I thought it was going to be another tour guide with a script, large group, and rushed activities. Exact opposite. JC was our guide and off the bat he came off as easy going, go with the flow, and determined to make sure we have the best experience in Cozumel possible. The tour was just me and my girlfriend the whole time and JC never once rushed us- if it was getting close to the time of needing to move on, JC would simply let us know and if we wanted to stay longer that we could, it might just cut into the next spot. But again, he didn’t have a preference either way, he just wanted us to enjoy our time. Each spot we stopped at was personal and very attentive to just us. The tacos at the end were the best tacos I think I have ever tasted and would do this every time. If you want a laid back, personal experience with tequila and beaches and tacos- come here!!

5.00Wow! What an experience with our guide JC. He picked us up at our Resort. He had basic itiniary but gave us sevral suggestions on how to customize our day. JC is a wealth of knowledge about Cozumel and its history. We made several stops on our tour including 3 Tequila tastings... all were awsome! We also made two stops on the "other side of the island". One stop for some lunch and drinks at a beach club, and another stop at a beachside bar called Miami Cozumel for one of the best mojitos we've ever tasted! Our final stop was in downtown at Tzalam Taqueria for some really awsome local tacos and ice cold beer. We highly recommend this tour and if you are luck enough to get JC... he's the best in the business! He made it possibly the best private tour we've ever experienced!

5.00We had a great time on this tour. It was me, my wife, 23 year old son and 18 year old daughter. JC was a great tour guide and made the day fun. We did 2 tequila tastings, stopped at a great beach and then stopped at Welcome to Miami. We finished the day with tacos and drinks in downtown. Highly recommend!

5.00Our tour started with a rainy (but quick) walk from the cruise terminal to the meeting spot with our guide, Jose Carlos. The directions provided in our booking confirmation were excellent, and JC was waiting for us when we arrived 15 minutes early! JC was a proud local and it was obvious in his touring style - he was full of tidbits about Mayan history even though we weren't visiting any archeological sites, and he took so much time at the beaches explaining the work being done with the sea turtle population. He also got us safely around to our tequila tastings (more tasting rooms than bars) and some truly fantastic beaches/bars on the "other side." Sure, the tastings are at spots geared to tourists, but we really enjoyed the products considering neither of us really sip tequila on its own back home in the States. And the mojitos at the beach were truly the best ;) The tacos and beer to end the afternoon were also delicious, and he steered us to some more obscure/local tacos to try that we loved! We were so pleased with this day and I would not hesitate to use JC and Leon Tours again for another adventure if we return to Cozumel!
