The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

5.00My elderly parents (~80 years old) and I had a great time on this private tour. At first, I was a little bit nervous about how much we’d be able to see with the post-earthquake recovery efforts not yet being complete, with my parents’ inability to do strenuous hikes, and the bit of rain we were going to get all weekend. Our guide Sam was wonderful. He flipped between 3 languages to keep us all engaged while doing a great job navigating the challenging, narrow/winding mountain roads. He also helped my parents with food selection, hiking, and more. You could really feel Sam’s hometown pride come through (he’s a native of Hualien). I would definitely recommend this again. In the future, though, I would try and enjoy Hualien and surround areas for 3-4 days instead of the rushed overnight that we did.

5.00We had a great day touring the spectacular Taroko gorge and the surrounding area with Alex. He was chatty, funny and knowledgeable about the area. Took us to a great restaurant and left us with some tips on where to go for dinner. I would highly recommend booking a tour with him!

5.00Tour was really well planned out. Had plenty of time at each stop. The guide, Sam, speaks very well in english, has a ton of knowledge and suggested plenty of fun activities to do during the day. He took pictures and was kind to share them at the end of the day. Sam made the day extra special with his tour experience. I definitely recommend.

5.00If you are looking for the perfect way to see the best of Taroko Gorge and Hualien, look no further! Sam is an outstanding guide who truly turned a great day into an unforgettable experience. His knowledge of local history is incredible, and his friendly energy made the entire day an absolute blast. Our itinerary was perfectly curated, taking us from the breathtaking Qingshui Cliffs into the heart of Taroko Gorge. A major highlight was the hike to a waterfall where we actually got to soak our feet at the bottom, the perfect way to cool off! We wrapped up the day at the historic General's Mansion and finally winding down at the beach. Since it was a Monday and the usual lunch spot was closed, Sam’s expertise really saved the day. He pivoted effortlessly and recommended an amazing beef noodle place that turned out to be one of our favorite meals of the trip! We loved every single minute of the tour and learned so much about the culture and landscape. We couldn't recommend Sam more highly!

5.00I was with Alex for the day touring Hualien and I honestly cannot put into words how amazing of a day I’ve had. Hualien is renowned for only speaking Mandarin but I felt at home whilst touring with him. The views he took me to were breathtaking, joking along the way, and his knowledge of Hualien was unbelievable. Whilst I do understand this can be pricey for some solo travellers, I cannot recommend it enough - easily the best day I have had here in Taiwan!

5.00My friend and I had the pleasure of spending the day with the amazing Vincent! He is the sweetest and most knowledgeable tour guide I’ve had. He was able to answer all of our questions and explained every view and step of the tour. The Taroko Gorge is such a beautiful sight. Definitely worth it to go. We also got to try the indigenous foods from that part of the country at a local restaurant. All in all, our day was fantastic and I couldn’t recommend this tour enough, especially if you have Vincent as a guide :)

5.00Had a fantastic trip with our guide Alex! Initially we weren’t sure whether we should do Taroko since the park is still impacted from the earthquake but we’re so so so glad we did. Alex was a fantastic guide, he knew all the best spots to take us to and even supplemented the tour with other popular areas such as Qixintan scenic area (where we go to see F16’s training), a beautiful hike (where we got to see a waterfall and monkeys), and the governors house (which he used to live at!). His energy was out of this world and his stories and knowledge honestly made our trip to Hualien great. We also went to a top recommended lunch spot and it was the best meal we had in all of Hualien! Highly highly recommend Alex to future travelers thinking of visiting Hualien! It’s definitely worth it
