More than just a drive, this journey offers an immersive and interactive way to truly experience Taroko Gorge and Hualien
The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

The trails at the gorge were still closed but we got to spend some time at quite a few of the view points. The lunch spot was excellent and we walked up to a waterfall near the city to make up for the lack of hiking in the gorge. Vincent was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. My only negative comment is that it was quite expensive

Jimmy was our tour guide and he was awesome, So many cool memories and was very good at keeping us on track through the busy and confusing gate schedules due to construction. We will definitely recommend this booking to others!

Our tour of Taroko Gorge and other places today was absolutely fantastic! Our guide Sam knew exactly where to take us, and where to pause for the best photos. He knew all about really everything in Hualien, and answered all our questions. We were so fascinated with the gorge, the pebble beach, the indigenous lunch, and the waterfall hike. Then we were fortunate enough to be here when the indigenous dance troupe performed, and Sam recommended it and took us there as a grand finale. This is definitely the best way to see and understand Hualien!

We did a private full-day tour of Taroko Gorge, with our amazing driver/guide Sam, and even though the 2024 earthquake affected many areas we were still able to see beautiful, breathtaking areas and hear about the history and legends of various places in the Gorge... more are reopening all the time (we saw Swallowtail Gorge, Marble Gorge, Loving Mother Bridge, original entrance tunnel/arch etc ). For lunch we had an Indigenous "set meal" which was very good... there were other options offered, too! We had a delicious millet donut and very tangy local lemonade afterwards. We also did a lovely hike to Sakul Falls, which was close to Hualien... nice views of the city as you hike the 40-50 min. loop We made a stop at a lovely rock beach where they have rock-balancing contests and marvelled at the huge waves crashing ashore near to the city. General's Mansion Park ("Jiang Jun Fu") was our last stop right in the city... an interesting place to go back to and try out some of the treats/restaurants It was a very organized, interesting, beautiful, yummy way to spend a day in, and around, Hualien , and Sam made it special for us!

The Taroko Gorge is, for lack of a better word, gorgeous. Our tour guide Alex knew the exact stops for spectacular views with a bit of thrill and adventure- not too much but just right for 3 demure Asian females. He showed us an amazing shoreline where we gathered a handful of marble-imbued stone souvenirs. From there we went through tunnels that led to the many unique features that define this majestic gorge, giving us some historical tidbits about Taiwan’s “rocky” past with China, the brilliance of Taiwanese engineers, and the resilience of the people ( indigenous and locals) who inhabit this precarious mountain range. After a quick meal and visit to a Buddhist temple on a hill, Alex obliged my request to see the Tzu Chi Headquarters. It was another sight to behold, an experience I shall never forget. We had to catch a train ride back and did not have time to visit the General’s Home which Alex was ready to take us to. I had to decline but always there is a next time. Thank you Alex. For tourists seeking an energetic and ultra knowledgeable AND sensitive tour guide, Alex is one you would enjoy having a blast with. Oh and do remember to ask him about coffin buns w free milk tea before departure time. No pun intended!

Unfortunately due to the 2024 earthquake the trails within the Taroko National Park are still closed. BUT do not let this put you off ... The scenery is absolutely stunning and well worth it. Our driver and guide was very good at explaining why they were closed and the drive showed this as well
