Become truly immersed in traditional Japanese culture as you and your party members will enjoy the entire 300-year old historic property to yourselves. We serve organic matcha locally sourced from Kyoto, Uji in a traditional tea room. Enter into this space separate from the rush of life and truly experience the serenity of tea ceremony.

Adorn an authentic silk wedding Kimono or wield a Samurai Katana to commemorate your visit to Kyoto! You are welcome to take photos during your visit. You can even bring the experience home with you as we offer a large array of Matcha Chawan (Matcha Tea Bowl) and authentic silk Kimono for purchase. An experience like no other being the only Samurai house in Kyoto with such offerings.

We are able to offer this traditional space and still be very conveniently located only an 8 minute walk from Kyoto station, making this experience a seamless addition to your time in Kyoto.

Private Tea Ceremony and Sake and Japanese whisky tasting in Kyoto Samurai House 1. Experience the way of tea in a historical and traditional tea room in a 300-year-old samurai house with an authentic Tea Ceremony. 2. Learn about how to enjoy the powered green tea (Matcha) in a ceremonial way 3. Try your hand at making your own matcha with a bamboo whisk or Sake (5 shots) OR Japanese whisky tasting (2 shots). Please choose one from these 3 options.( For guests over 20.) *We serve only the high grade organic Matcha locally sourced from Kyoto, Uji. *We only provide alcohol to guests over 20. For guests under over 20years old will be matcha whisking lesson after tea ceremony. 4. Taking Photogenic Photos with Samurai Swords (Katana) and wedding Kimono on top(Wedding kimono for lady only) *if you would like to wear kimono during the tea ceremony will take extra 30mins and extra cost, and its limited to one group here, for other time slot it’s exclusive plan for booking on our website. *All Reservation Minimum 2 people required* *If possible, please use the restroom before coming here. Since it is a 300-year-old samurai residence, there is only one old toilet.

The house and grounds are beautiful. They provide a wonderful history of the house as well as the history of the tea ceremony. They made us feel extremely comfortable. We both ended up doing the sake/whisky tasting and the host was so fun and easy to talk to. It exceeded our expectations!

It was truly immersive to be in a family home maintained very elegantly for over 300 years. This tea ceremony is a family run ceremony in their home which makes the cultural experience even more memorable! Not only are they welcoming but also very patient, kind and engaging! To anyone wondering if they should go, I say- absolutely! The cherry on top was the sake and whiskey tasting.
An absolute must do in Kyoto! Unforgettable experience!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We had an amazing time! I looked at many different places for tea ceremonies in Kyoto, but this one was by far the best option and it did not disappoint! The private tea ceremony was followed by a sake tasting. The traditional tea ceremony was beautiful and we were both so happy to have this cultural experience in an old samurai house! We even learned a lot about the different types of sake (don’t worry if you don’t like sake, you can learn how to make matcha tea as an alternative). We dressed in beautiful, traditional clothes which only made the experience that much better and memorable! The hosts were absolutely amazing and very welcoming, and made it an unforgettable experience. Please go if you have the chance! Even got a couple souvenirs from the hosts to remember our time!

The hosts were super welcoming and easy to understand. They took time to educate us on traditional tea ceremonies and sake. Following this, we participated in a private tea ceremony led by a tea ceremony master! This experience has been the highlight of our trip so far! Thank you so much!

Fantastic experience in this lovely historic Samurai home- from the warm welcome to the beauty and elegance of the tea ceremony to the fun of trying on traditional Japanese kimonos to the sake tasting. Our host could not have been nicer. One of the highlights of our trip to Japan!

This is a charming ceremony that we are happy to recommend. It was great learning the tea ritual and enjoying the matcha. The pictures in kimonos were a fun surprise. It was brought to a lively ending with sake tasting, along with explanations of the different flavors.
