Udawalawe National Park
Udawalawe National Park is located in the southern part of Sri Lanka and is famous for its rich wildlife, especially its large population of Asian elephants. Covering an area of approximately 30,821 hectares, the park was established in 1972 and is a key destination for wildlife enthusiasts. It offers a diverse range of flora and fauna, including leopards, crocodiles, water buffaloes, and a variety of bird species. The park's landscape features grasslands, wetlands, and scrub forests, providing excellent opportunities for safaris. Udawalawe is also home to the Udawalawe Reservoir, which attracts many animals, especially during dry seasons. It is one of the most popular wildlife destinations in Sri Lanka for both local and international tourists.

5.00We booked a taxi ride from Ella to Weligama beach with Lakpura leisure. Chathum from Lakpura leisure helped us planning the trip. He always responded to our messages in a timely manner and always sent us the confirmation which was very reassuring. He also arranged a safari tour at Udawalawe National Park on our way to Weligama beach. I highly recommend booking/ planning the trip with Lakpura leisure. They are very professional, accommodating and reasonably priced.
We had a wonderful time and it was the highlight of our Sri Lanka trip!

5.00The whole trip was perfectly planned. The Driver was so kind and helpful. We had cosy and comfortable climatized van with lots of space. After we arrived to Udawawale only 5 minutes later there we started our amazing journey. Enjoy a little humpy road, beautiful scenery of Sri Lanka flora and fauna like elephants, monkeys, peacocks, colorful birds, lizards, water buffaloes,… It was worth it!
