Get away from the crowds! OUT-OF-THE-BEATEN PATH experience exploring two private estates in Madrid´s Wine Country. The tour is owner-run, in native level English, Spanish, or French (is not offered by any other company and only available to small private groups with a sophisticated love for wine, olive oil, nature, and history). During the tour we visit an exclusive family-run boutique winery where we taste 3 wines along with local tapas, and 4 types of local olive oil. This was the highlight of our trip to Spain. The tour guide Roy was very friendly and knowledgeable. We particularly loved the tour of Bodegas Peral and meeting Don Antonio the owner who told us some great stories and let us try some awesome wines. We finished our day with a wonderful paella lunch.

My parents and I had a wonderful day exploring the countryside south of Madrid with Roy. If you are looking to explore hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path places outside Madrid, this is the perfect tour for you! First, we went from Madrid to Colmenar de Oreja, where Roy showed us around the little town, and afterward we went for a guided tour with the owner of one of the town's wineries, La Peral. It was super interesting to hear about the development of the area and how the wine production has changed since they started. After the wine tasting at La Peral, Roy took us to visit an olive oil cooperative, where we learned about their production and tasted some of their different olive oils. For lunch, Roy drove us to visit Finca de Chavarri, an old mineral water establishment with an abandoned hotel and spa area. Roy himself is involved in the restoration project of the area, and shared interesting stories about the place. The seafood parallel for lunch was one of the best parallels we have tried in Spain in a very very long time, and the accompanied wine was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful day and for sharing a different view of Communidad de Madrid :)

The was an amazing experience. Roy was so knowledgeable about the area. The winery was amazing, going to the subterranean wine cellar and seeing the clay pots provided an unmatched experience. Seeing a village right before a festival and experiencing the church. Then the olive oil coop and the tasting experience. Last we went to Roy's property and Carlos made a delicious paella. Then Carlos took us up the mountain and on a tour of the olive groves which were also historical battle fields during the civil war. We absolutely loved the tour. Thank you Roy and Carlos!

This was one of the best tours we have taken. We went to a small underground winery, to a coop producing olive oil company and had a wonderful paella and visit to the private property of the tour guide Roy. The property was amazing full of history and still in the process of fixing the property. Did not disappoint and for the price you will no regret it. Go for it.

Roy, the vineyard owner and our guide for the day, went above and beyond. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, but he also surprised our group with an extra stop for an olive oil tasting at Posito—an unexpected and delicious treat that made the day even more memorable. We started in the charming historic town of Colmenar de Oreja, exploring its preserved 17th-century Plaza Mayor and quaint alleys. Then we visited Bodegas Peral, where Antonio and his grandson hosted us with such warmth and humor. The underground cellar tour, the massive clay jars, and the engaging explanation of their winemaking process were fascinating. The tasting that followed—paired with local tapas—was so good we bought a whole case of wine to ship home! But the magic didn’t stop there. The second part of the tour brought us to the Carabaña estate, where we explored a restored hydroelectric plant, wandered through historic vineyards, visited a crumbling but beautiful old spa resort, and even saw Civil War trenches and tunnels. The scenery was breathtaking, and the stories behind each site were captivating. To top it all off, we enjoyed a riverside paella lunch with more exquisite local wine and were gifted a handmade herbal soap sourced from the estate’s very own medicinal plants—a truly thoughtful touch. Fantastic trip!

Roy brought us to a boutique winery, an olive oil co-op and for a paella lunch! What he taught us about Spain will be with us forever! My kids say it was their absolute favorite activity we experienced.

An authentic view of rural Spain. My husband & I enjoyed every aspect of this tour. The wine was delicious and the tour of the cave was very interesting. We visited the town square which was beautiful. Next, we visited an olive oil cooperative, learned about the oil making process, and had a tasting of different oils (not in the original tour description but added on as a bonus that day). Finally, to a stunning estate where medicinal waters used to be bottled. We were treated to a delicious seafood paella lunch set along the scenic river. The wine served with lunch was locally produced. We toured the estate and learned about the Spanish Civil War and how the soldiers hid and fought in this naturally fortified area. Our host, Roy, demonstrated a keen knowledge & palpable enthusiasm for the area. We did not see many other tourists throughout the day. This is an off-the-beaten-path-must-do tour to appreciate the agrarian culture of Spain. Loved it! Highly recommend!
