The small village of Santa Elena is located high above Medellín in the mountains of Antioquia. It is home to a great variety of traditional flower farmers and the impressive Arví Nature Reserve with a size of 16.000 ha of forests and wetlands. The flower arrangements of the Flower Festival, called “Silletas” have an impressive history, and are today a cultural symbol of Medellín. The small-scale flower farms in Santa Elena are family-run for generations.

You experience an exclusive visit to a traditional small-scale family-run flower farm and obtain deep insights on this unique tradition meeting a “Silletero” (local flower farmer) and his family on their farm. Get to know more about the culture of flower farming in Medellín and the historic dimension of the “Silleta” arrangements in a private setting and explore the beautiful garden learning more about plants and its origin and the cultural context. Learning about the history of the Silleteros was a great experience. The guide, Lilliana, was friendly and gave excellent recommendations. The farm was gorgeous and rich with culture. I enjoyed every minute of the tour and would recommend it to anyone.

Terrific tour by the Man himself - 5th generation grower. Charming, funny, warm and handsome too. The tour of the farm and explanation/demo of the art of flower arranging and participation in the ferias was amazing. It was a unique experience and we were welcomed into the family home with open arms.

An unforgettable experience! Our guide was very professional and friendly, providing us with fascinating information about the history and culture of Medellin. The visit to the silleteros farm was especially memorable, we learned a lot about the hard work and dedication of the local farmers. I recommend this tour to anyone visiting Medellin!
