Start with the major highlight of the trip - Kuldīga town. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site with an exceptionally well-preserved medieval town. Discover the widest waterfall in Europe - Ventas Rumba. Take a refreshing dip in it on a hot summer day, and admire the unique Kuldīga Brick Bridge. During the springtime, you might be lucky enough to see local fish, vimba, swimming to their spawning grounds and jumping upstream here. Consider an optional visit to the Live museum-Ancient Kuldigas story or proceed directly to the next medieval town Sabile famous for its northernmost vineyard Sabile Wine Hill and breathtaking views over Abava River Valley Nature Park. Complete the tour with a photo stop at Kandava town and around one one-hour hike on the unique Čužu Bog Nature Trail near this town.

After a roughly 2-hour drive from Riga to Western Latvia (Courland), including a coffee stop and enjoying beautiful views on the way, arrive at the picturesque medieval town of Kuldiga. It's no coincidence that it's now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Take a stroll through the narrow streets of this exceptionally well-preserved medieval town. Have lunch in one of the cozy restaurants of Kuldīga town.
Venta Rapid Waterfall
Visit Ventas Rumba, Europe's widest waterfall, where you can admire the famous Kuldiga bridge and soak in the stunning scenery. If you're lucky enough to visit in spring, you might see local fish, vimba, swimming to their spawning grounds and jumping upstream in Ventas Rumba. 5.00My wife and I booked the “Exploring Medieval Gems of Kuldīga, Sabile and Kandava” full day tour. The plan was to visit Kuldīga, Sabile, and Kandava as a day trip from Riga. The weather did not cooperate and we had rain all day. But in spite of the rain, we had great time and got a little wet as we walked around Kuldiga. Our guide, Rolands, kept us entertained the entire time with local history and information. We stopped in Sabile and had a very good lunch. We decided not to stop in Kandava (we were sufficiently wet, lol) but we were able to see some of town as we drove through. Rolands is an excellent guide. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him and to have him share his insights of the area. I highly recommend Roland’s and this day trip from Riga.

5.00This was an excellent tour. The tour guide Roland was very informative and made the day memorable for us. He was in touch with us before the tour with information about what to expect throughout the day. He took pictures of us during our tours of the towns. We had a nice lunch in a café that Roland recommended and it was delicious. During the drive he made restroom/coffee stops for us. We were able to personalize our trip and chose a walk in the Cuzu Mire Nature Reserve. It was nice to get out into the nature of Latvia. Highly recommend this trip with Roland and Baltic Nature Adventures.
