The sights, sounds and smell are like nowhere else on earth as you walk on actual lava (cooled, of course), descend through a rain forest and experience steam vents up close and personal.
Meeting at the visitor center at Volcanoes National Park, we'll begin experiencing the amazing sights and sounds on top of the world's most active volcano.
This truly will be an experience you will never forget! You can even choose a starting time at 5 AM to catch the sunrise over Kilauea. Another advantage to starting so early is having the park almost to ourselves!

We use a Ford F150, 4-door pickup truck modified for off-road use. Must be able to get in and out of the truck unassisted.

5.00Scott’s passion for volcanoes is both infectious and inspiring. With a deep knowledge of the park’s history and geology, he transforms a visit into an immersive, almost behind-the-scenes experience. This tour was truly one of the most memorable highlights of our time on the Big Island, and I would recommend it without hesitation.

5.00Scott was amazing! His passion for the volcano and its history was infectious, and he kept our kids (9 & 11) engaged the whole time. He showed us hidden gems we never would have found on our own and made the park come alive. Starting early was a huge plus to beat the cruise ship crowds. Highly recommend!

5.00Scott is incredible to travel around the park with! He is very knowledgeable and great to have conversations with. He even engaged with my 19 year old son along with my wife and I. When we talked about what we wanted to see, he fulfilled every spot and showed us some other incredible spots to look at. Even though he has done this for 14 years, he still got excited on what he saw and it was infectious to all of us! We had so much fun that we cancelled our Uber ride back to the cruise ship and spent more time with Scott and he even took us back to the port himself. If we make it back to the Big Island, we will definitely meet up with Scott to explore again!

5.00We had an amazing time on our tour around Kīlauea — the perfect way to kick off our trip! Our guide, Scott, was absolutely fantastic: knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about both the volcano and the island’s rich natural history. He kept the tour fun and informative for all of us, including our 8-year-old son, who was so inspired that he started pointing out native trees we learned about during the tour! We visited several incredible spots throughout Volcanoes National Park, took some breathtaking photos, and left feeling like we really understood the history and power of Kīlauea. Scott’s up-to-date insights made everything come alive. The tour made such an impression that we went back to the park on our own to hike and explore more of the places Scott introduced us to. I highly recommend booking this tour at the beginning of your stay. You’ll learn so much and walk away with a deeper appreciation for one of Hawaii’s most iconic landscapes. We would absolutely do it again!

5.00No one is more enthusiastic about volcanoes than Scott! He communicated clearly, provided superior education, and ensured we saw the best sites of the park. We would have been overwhelmed without this private tour. Worth every penny!

5.00Scott was an amazing tour guide and led us to see so many things we wouldn’t have otherwise known. We were traveling with two kids and Scott was amazing with entertaining them and showing all the interesting flowers, plants and amazing volcano views and info. If you are looking for a great tour, go with Scott!!!

5.00Our guide Scott was excellent. From his well-appointed truck, to his knowledge base, to his can do attitude- he totally rocked it. We knew very little about volcanoes and lava prior to the tour and now are much more knowledgable. He was able to take into account some physical challenges we had and made it so easy.
