Newquay
Our first stop of the day and a visit to the 'surfers paradise' of Newquay! (Cornish = Tewynblustri) Around 25,000 people live in Newquay but this swells to 100,000 or more in the summer. The town has been expanding inland since the former fishing village of New Quay began to grow in the second half of the nineteenth century, and the western edge of the town meets the Atlantic at Fistral Bay. We'll park up at Fistral Beach where hopefully conditions will be right to witness some surfing acfion whilst we get our bearings. Driving around the Grade 2 listed Headland Hotel we'll pay a visit to the Huer's Hut which has been described as "a particularly fine late mediaeval specimen". The Huer's Hut served as a lookout point from which a man known as a huer could keep watch for the arrival of the pilchards. It's a marvelous structure and there's a teriffic view from here of the North Coast of Cornwall stretching out into the distance. That's where we're headed...onwards!
Watergate Bay
Watergate Bay is a vast stretch of sand, big Atlantic swells, and high sea-beaten cliffs; a dramatic landscape, it’s one of the county’s wildest coastlines and considered by many as one of Cornwall’s best beaches. It's 3km beach faces the Atlantic Ocean and with the sea swell it's easy to see why the English Nationals Surfing Championships are held here. If the sea-breeze gets too fresh, there are restrooms and cafes close by...

I highly recommend this informative, fun, personalized tour with history teacher and proprietor Conrad, which helped me to fall in love with the remarkable natural settings, historical buildings, culture and atmosphere of Cornwall UK. The tour was appropriately named, as the incredible cliffs is unlike anything I have ever seen, they are magnificent. A visit to Tintagel is a must for both its beauty and for the King Arthur connection. We were immersed in interesting conversation about history, lore, local songs, the whole time and you will feel like you have made a friend. We thoroughly enjoyed this well executed tour.

Kernow Private Tours of Cornwall An absolutely fascinating unforgettable experience! Our guide, Conrad Savage, a local historian and resident. We were picked up at Tintagel and visited remarkable sites including the Merry Maidens Stone Circle, Men-an-Tol, the Holy Well of Saint Madrin, Saint Michael’s Mount, Boscawen Stone Circle, and St Clether Holy Well Chapel. Conrad’s storytelling brought each place to life — blending archaeology, legend, and local insight. The tour perfectly captured the spirit, mystery, and beauty of Cornwall. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the true heart of Cornwall. 🌿 Learn more at: www.kernowtours.co.uk +44 07762 160274

The tour was everything we wanted it to be: great scenery, lots of history, and a wonderful introduction to the culture of Cornwall, by a knowledgeable, friendly guide with a good sense of humor. Conrad made sure that we had a great time, even going out of his way to bring us back an item we had left in the tour vehicle. We highly recommend this tour company.

I cannot rate Kernow tours highly enough. I waited until I'd finished all my tours of Europe and UK before posting review, absolutely exceptional. Conrad, tour groups need to bottle you and use you for training. Your passion for your heritage and local history, outstanding, Your singing is worth taking the tour for!

We had an amazing day out with Kernow Tours. Conrad was extremely knowledgeable and deeply passionate about Cornwall's history and landscape. The tour felt very personal and was tailored to what we were interested in. We explored old tin mines along the cliffs, wandered through wild moorland with ponies, and visited the Minack Theatre looking out over the sea. Along the way he shared stories and details that really brought the places to life. It was a thoughtful, specialised way to see Cornwall and made the day feel very special. Couldn't recommend more - thanks to Conrad.

We had a fantastic day with Conrad during our summer holiday 2025 in Cornwall. On a tour with him, you get to know not only the country, but also the historical background of every place in Cornwall you visit. Besides, you can see places that you would never have considered or heard of. In short, it was one of the most beautiful days we spent in Cornwall. Meur ras Conrad!!!

Well, how does any tour guide or hospitality institution constantly receive a 5 out of 5 rating? If it's Conrad then it's to be expected. His knowledge and passion for Cornwall and the stories he tells, together with that wonderful sense of humour, is only topped by the favourite Cornish songs he plays and sings to. Thank you Conrad for my memorable tour. You opened my eyes to the wonderful culture and magic of Kernow
