The Armour-Stiner Octagon House was built in 1860 as a summer home. To this day, the Spring months here in The Hudson Valley are the most delightful time of the year. Victorian Springtime at The Octagon House, a one-hour tour, includes both a guided exploration of the lush 19th-century grounds and an unforgettable interior tour of this marvelously preserved Victorian Summer Home. Guests will see and smell a vibrant array of Victorian flowers inside the fully restored Lord and Burnham greenhouse, listen to an orchestra of songbirds in the Foxglove Garden, and step back in time with a stroll around the 360-degree verandah. In the interior portion of the tour, see many examples of how the natural world heavily influenced Victorian life and design.

A friend and I toured the house for the Victorian Christmas tour with Rachel and it was wonderful. So much beauty and history. We were in a very manageable group of only 7 people for a 1 hour tour and we both loved it. Rachel was so enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. She entertained questions (which everyone had) and made the history of this old and unique house come alive.

We visited once before in the Summer a few years back. It was a new experience seeing all the 19th century decor. The admission seems a bit steep, but the tours are limited to ten persons. The guide was very knowledgeable about society in that time period.

The staff were very informative and supportive. A great tour guide, a great tour. Well worth it!! The groups small and well organized. We went for the Victorian Christmas tour but I imaginative any tour here would be good.

After taking the Christmas/Holiday tour a few years back, I wanted my sister from Vermont to see this unique and lovely landmark house. We took the 4pm tour, and the house was tastefully decorated for the Halloween season, as it would have been back in the 1800s. Our pleasant and informative tour guide went over the history and architecture, as well as some of the customs and superstitions of the eras of the house. The hour flew by quickly and was well worth the trip. I would also highly recommend purchasing the book in the gift shop about the history of the home, with great pictures. I did so after visiting the first time and read it within a few days.

Great tour, wonderful tour guide, lots of great information about the house. Grounds were very nice as well. Well worth the visit.

Really a unique house. Excellent tour very enjoyable. From the exterior to the incredibly decorated rooms truly a house to see.

Unique mid-19th century structure lovingly restored by current owner. Tour explained the restoration process in detail and identified much of the unique features and furnishings. A true gem.

The amount of love & dedication put into restoring and preserving this home is beyond amazing. Our tour guide was fantastic, engaging & willing to answer any questions. Do ore: tours are not allowed to the top floor, I know many would love to see it… but the Fire Marshall forbids it. There is a small gift shop, no pressure on purchases. Parking is limited, pay attention to their details about your visit. Definitely recommend!!

Couldn't have enjoyed this more. The love of detail and the painstaking attention to restoration enabling contemporary visitors to appreciate this authentic relic of another era was a trip in time right here in the heart of lower Westchester. A wonderful way to spend an hour and imagine another world.

A fascinating tour of a very special house. The architectural detail was incredible. Privately owned home designed and furnished with love and much dedication. Friendly tour guide who greeted us as we drove in. Met one of the family members who lives on site--so many personal stories to tell. Something for everyone, as long as you can walk stairs. Probably not a great bet for young kids as one is not permitted to touch anything in the house but the handrails.
