Explore The Hill, St. Louis's legendary "Little Italy", on a private walking tour through one of the most authentic Italian-American neighborhoods in the US.
Your guide Wayne takes you on a journey of the mom-and-pop shops, bakeries, delis, and restaurants that have made The Hill a food destination for over a century. You will share signature tastings at multiple stops. Think Toasted Ravioli, St. Louis-style pizza, and Gioia's Deli's famous hot salami subs.
Between bites, you'll walk the neighborhood streets and hear the stories of the immigrant families who built The Hill and kept it thriving for generations — from the Italian flag fire hydrants to the bocce courts to the homes that produced baseball legends like Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola.
This is The Hill the way locals experience it — not from a bus window.
Shared food tastings are included at multiple stops.

The Hill
The Hill is St. Louis' "Little Italy" neighborhood. Founded by Italian immigrants in the early 1800's, this neighborhood is the epicenter for Italian culture in the region. On our "Taste of The Hill" tour we will be visiting multiple "mom & pop" restaurants to sample St. Louis style pizza and our world famous Toasted Ravioli. Other stops include a 100 year old salumeria, an Italian bakery, a gelateria, and some other surprises. This tour can be a walking tour or use transportation provided. If walking, please note we will be taking plenty of breaks to rest and indulge in all The Hill has to offer.
St. Ambrose Catholic Church
The beating heart of The Hill is Saint Ambrose Catholic Church. We will be stopping for pictures and doing some exploring.

4.00This was a food tour of the North Hill Italian neighborhood. A good bit of walking. Learned a lot about the history of the neighborhood as well as the local foods. Our guide Wayne knew a lot about food as he was a chef. We tasted lots of yummy foods, including the St. Louis version of pizza (they do this creamy local cheese and a really thin crust). Overall we saw a lot of interesting sights.... more than just the food. I would recommend this tour.

5.00I had three guys in town for a guys weekend and we had an awesome tour with Wayne on the hill. He took us to some amazing restaurants and had some amazing stories and anecdotes to make the day amazing. Highly recommended, book this tour now!

5.00My husband and I had a great day with Wayne doing a walking tour of The Hill and stopping in at several of the favorite food establishments. Wayne was very informative, and we got a good sense of this special neighborhood and its unique history and culture. We sampled a great variety of food, all delicious. Wayne quickly tuned in to some of our preferences, and made quick adjustments to accommodate us. Definitely recommend!

5.00Just back from a great day on the Hill in St Louis. This is a tour that must be experienced and is truly more than the sum of its parts. The culture and history of this part of St Louis is a testament to a community that has managed to retain its identity even as the flight to the suburbs has destroyed many others. Wayne is a knowledgeable and easy to talk to guide with his own roots in the food and hospitality business. The tour was a good mix of strolling through the neighborhoods that are part of the Hill, stopping in various shops, restaurants and bars with a gelato stop at the end for the perfect sweet ending. Wayne strives to offer his guests flexibility in the tour and can adjust to suit your needs. We were very happy with the tour and would not hesitate to book Wayne again for another St. Louis tour.

5.00We all really enjoyed the walking food tour. Contrary to some of the other reviews we felt there was plenty of food. Yes, you were served just tastes at each stop, but there were plenty of stops. It was good mix of Hill history and Italian food tidbits. Bring good walking shoes and enjoy. We would highly recommend.

5.00We had an awesome time!! We were in a Sisracuzs trip and our aunt came along. The weather was just perfect and Wayne was an awesome host! We really enjoyed everything about the day. If you’re wanting to experience the “Hill” I would highly recommend!

5.00We do a lot of food and walking Tours all over the world and this was one of the best! Wayne is a real pro and understands what 1st class customer service is. The Hill Food and Walking Tour in the Italian Neighborhood of St Louis was just awesome. Wayne was very knowledgeable accommodating and fun to be around.
