Plovdiv is on the 6th place for oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and the oldest in Europe. Inhabited since 4,000 B.C., beginning with a Neolithic settlement, Plovdiv has been conquered many times throughout the years by the Thracians, the Greeks and the Romans.
After the city tour we're heading inland to the beatifull Rhodopes mountain towards the Аsen's fortress, located on high ground with panoramic views. We will stay about 30min. to enjoy the view of the mountains, the town of Asenovgrad and the Thracian valley.
Our last stop will be the picturesque Bachkovo Monastery - second largest.
The monastery buildings form two rectangular courtyards – northern (original) and southern added in the 19th century. Inside the complex we visit the main church of Virgin Mary built in 1604 where a valuable icon of Saint Mary from 11-12th century AD is being kept. According to the legend this remarkable icon is believed to be miracle working.

5.00Plovdiv is a beautiful city with lots to see and do. Ves did an excellent job of explaining all about the sites. Wish I had more time in Plovdiv.

5.00We had a wonderful time with Campfire BG tours on our tour of Plovdiv. This is a don't miss opportunity and we are so glad we booked this experience while we were in Sofia. Our guide was personally welcoming and so knowledgable about the key sites in Plovdiv and the history - she even took some great pictures of us and pointed out some local artists for us to stop and buy art/souvenirs from. In addition to the beautiful scenery and walking tour of Plovdiv, we loved the visit to Villa Yustina winery. It was a great capstone to the day. The tour and tasting were fabulous and at every step of the way we felt so welcomed! We cannot recommend this tour enough! Knowledgable, fun, professional, and safe, it was a full day to remember! Thank you!

5.00Luyben was our guide, and he made it a great experience for us.This private tour was well organized and executed to perfection.Luyben speaks English really well and his knowledge about history is vast. We learned so much about Bulgaria's history it was delightful.
