We’ll start by walking through Stone Town, or Mji Mkongwe, which means "Ancient Town”. This historic trade center with Swahili & Islamic influences was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. Our walk will be 2 - 3 hours. You’ll be immersed in the special history of this unique, indigenous place. We’ll wander through amazing narrow streets, by antique shops, exceptional handmade Arabic & Indian style doors, and visit historic buildings and local museums. We’ll view the main slave market of East Africa, a Portuguese fortress, the landmark House of Wonder and a local bazaar. We’ll also stop for local coffee or ginger tea, and make time for shopping too. After our Stone Town excursion we’ll visit a local Spice Farm. We'll spend 2 hrs. at the Spice Farm, experiencing many different spices and discovering plants, scents and tastes of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric, coffee, and more. We’ll finish with a spectacular coconut tree climber show, who sings local songs while picking coconuts high in the branches of the tree. Finally, we’ll stop at a spice table, where you can see the processed spices and can buy some unique gifts to take home with you.

This is a great tour for people that wants to see both: Stone Town and Spice Farm. Very informative with great history lesson. Spice Farm was also really interesting. What makes this tour great is the knowlegeable guide Masoud whose commmentary makes Stone Town alive. Highly recommended tour

Masoud is an amazing guide. He's an encyclopedia. He gave us all the facts and street knowledge about stone island and the spice farm. Absolutely worth it!

Absolute 10/10 experience! The guide, Masoud, is incredibly knowledgeable and fun, and took great care of us :) The spice tour was interactive and very educational (but also with some very fun demonstrations), and the tour of Stone Town was great, along with an in-depth dive into the history of Zanzibar’s role in the slave trade and a small sampling of local foods. My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic time and would 100% recommend you do this tour, especially if you are staying at a resort and want to bundle together two key experiences to have on the island in one day!

Masoud was our guide, he was wonderful and made sure we got everything we wanted, plus some! We were unaware the excursion we signed up for did not include prison island since we saw some people post pics of it. He made sure we were still able to see it in additional to our tours. Definitely recommend him!

Zanzibar Spice Farm is a beautiful place located about 30 minutes from Stone Town. During the tour, you can learn about various types of trees, spices, and their uses and benefits. The experience also includes local traditional dances and a delicious lunch, which was part of the entry package. I recommend visiting with the help of a local guide or tour operator who can arrange a car, driver, and entrance tickets for you. One thing to note: there are quite a lot of mosquitoes in the area, so it's best to bring mosquito repellent cream or wear long pants. We spent about 3 hours at the farm, and it was an informative and enjoyable experience overall. Date of visit: July 2025

Masoud has a very friendly manner, speaks very well with a great deal of knowledge. We felt we couldn't have enjoyed a better day out on our trip to the spice farm and Stone town. We highly recommend this trip.
Hanoud gave us knowledge, great experience,save feeling and a lot of fun.

We had a really nice trip with this funny relaxed Hanoud. He made us feel comfortable, save and has a lot of knowledge about the history of Zanzibar, Stone Town and Prison Island. But also how it is going now. We asked hem also about his life and family and it is nice to share the differences in our both family’s. We have got a nice place to lunch. It was one of the best experience on Zanzibar and we did a lot. We can highly recommend Hanoud. You won’t get sorry and have a really great time. Hanoud, thank you for everything and next time we bring our kids with us.
