Valletta

Walk through the Maltese capital city to take in its most spectacular sights, be it monuments, palaces and churches. As you go past some of the most beautiful parts of Valletta stop at special locations to try some of the foods and drinks of the Maltese people including, coffee, chocolate, kinnie, twistees, ftira, Ċisk beer, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, capers, bigilla, local sausage, peppered cheeselet, wine and more.

Maltese people cook coffee with chicory, cloves, and aniseed, drink Kinnie to freshen up in Summer, have local beer when the feast is on. We also try some Maltese wine.

A full lunch or dinner given at different stops as you go through Valletta. The food will include pastizzi, local chocolate, mqaret, maltese ravioli, rabbit and local nibbles on a charcuterie board.

We had a wonderful tour today with Romania. She shared many of the historic sites as we walked past and many delicious food stops. We have been on many food tours in Europe, and we believe this was the best one for quality and quantity. It may have been too much food. So delicious!

Gianni was the best. His knowledge about his home country was remarkable. He was proud to share in the rich cultural heritage of the various influences other countries brought to the culinary industry in Malta. From the sweet and savory pastizzi to the traditional rabbit and assortment of caponata, the food was delicious. We are grateful for the experience and for the company.

The quality of the main meal was poor especially for the price paid for this tour. Also, having chocolates and sweet liquor before the main meal is not customary most anywhere. This should have occurred after the main meal. This tour is overpriced for the value received.

Chris, our guide, gave us a full story of Valletta and Malta history while showing us this beautiful city. Our food samples ranged from local beverages and yummy pastries/sweets, to a full meal of the local/national rabbit stew. Most importantly he was considerate of my husband's limited mobility and adjusted our tasting to a smaller circle, but still included all of the special tastes and incredible beautiful sites of this city.

We enjoyed a private family food tour of Valletta in the evening with Lorraine. The food was delicious, even my children tried and enjoyed every dish. Lorraine was very knowledgeable about the history of Valletta and Malta. We highly recommend this experience!

We had a great afternoon with Christian from Best Malta Tours. He picked us up in the lobby of our hotel and paid great attention to our personal interests. Couldn't imagine a better guide and would book him again immediately. Recommended!

Karl provided us with a thoroughly delightful private Food Tour in Valletta Malta! His knowledge of local history is second to none, and he absolutely knew what places to visit to sample all the local specialties. We enjoyed the local drink Kinnie, pastizzi with ricotta cheese and mushy peas, imqarat pastry filled with date paste, Bragioli, rabbit, and a delicious ice cream made with sweetened condensed milk. Oh, and did I mention the wine? It was great! Probably the most fun item were the strawberries that Karl picked up from the green grocer in a plastic bag filled with water and these 4 huge strawberries! But even better than the food was the opportunity to spend a delightful 4 hours with such a truly nice person. We bumped into two other tourists from Australia who had used Karl as a guide earlier in the week and they raved about him, that’s when you know someone is really good! I definitely recommend this tour, whether it’s your first time in Malta or someone like us who have been there before and wanted a new experience. 5 STARS!!!!!

Fabulous walking food tour of Malta!! Chris was a wonderful tour guide, with so much historical information of this beautiful city. He stopped at all the spots we wanted to see and learn about, and provided so many great nibbles along the way. We ended with a wonderful Maltese Dinner at an authentic restaurant away from the tourists!! You will not regret booking this tour with Chris!!!
