Operated by Senor Travel Bug, the itinerary of this tour is a classic of the Cancun and Riviera Maya region, but with two principal differences. You will ride in a Classic VW Beetle painted as a racing car (although you can choose a more 'standard' car if you prefer), and your guide, a former professional photographer, will take photos and video throughout the day, all of which will be shared with you for free by the following day. You should not leave this region of Mexico without visiting Chichen Itza, the only Modern Wonder of the World in North America. After a guided tour of the ruins, a refreshing dip in a cenote always proves very welcome and something you can only experience in this region. The final stop is in Valladolid where you stroll the streets and the main square, perhaps refreshing with a cool drink beside the cathedral to end the tour ahead of the return to Cancun. For larger groups, please contact provider directly.

Chọn điểm đón
Chichen Itza
The first place visited is Chichen Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since the 1980s and voted a modern Wonder of the World in 2007. It is considered the most important of the Mayan sites primarily because it has buildings from the two Mayan eras and therefore differing styles of architecture reflecting the changing politics, beliefs and culture from 435AD to the Spanish Conquest in the 16th century, but also for its religious importance to the Maya as a place of pilgrimage. Unlike most guided tours, Señor Travel Bug will take you to the older and newer parts of Chichen Itza and explain their relevance. We drive for approximately 2h45 to arrive at Chichen Itza, depending on pick-up location.
Hacienda Oxman Cenote
Our second stop will typically be to either one or two cenotes, and will be chosen after discussing with the visitor their preferences eg. cliff-jumping, merely floating, seeing cave structures etc and could be before or after lunch depending on hunger and how much time was spent in Chichen Itza (a benefit of a private tour). Visitors can then swim, jump or merely relax in the cool waters of the cenotes that are somewhat unique to this region of the world. We drive for 30-45 minutes after Chichen Itza to arrive this location (depending on the cenote selected reflecting each individual's or group's style (i.e. calm or adventurous style cenote)

We are SO happy we booked a private tour with Paul — honestly, it turned out to be the best decision of our trip! Since we only had one full day in Cancun, we were a little nervous about dedicating the whole day to one tour, but wow… it was more than worth it. Paul is passionate, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable. He explains history in a way that’s not just interesting, but human — like listening to a great storyteller rather than reading from a textbook. His experience gives him a unique perspective, and you can truly feel how much he cares about the culture, the people, and the places he shares. On top of that, Paul has the soul of a creative photographer — he found fun angles, suggested poses, and turned simple moments into cinematic memories. We now have some of our favorite travel photos thanks to him! And the food… oh my goodness. He introduced us to authentic local flavors we would have never found on our own — including a real Mayan kitchen. That alone felt like a once-in-a-lifetime moment. If you’re thinking about booking this tour: do it. Paul didn’t just guide us — he made us feel welcome, cared for, and connected to this place. We’ll remember this day forever.

We had an incredible private tour with Paul. Paul was extremely kind, knowledgable, bilingual (dare I say quad-lingual?) and welcoming host/tour guide. He helped us really get a more in depth understanding of the Mayan Historical sites, as well as giving us an authentic Mexican experience in through the rest of the Yucatan with an amazing lunch, cenote, and stop in the beautiful town of Valladolid. A MAJOR surprise for us we did not expect but was a win for us were the numerous pictures he took and gave to us on this trip, as well a video he edited and sent at the end of the day after he got home. He truly goes above and beyond. He provided, water, towels, and even carried our purchases when doing a bit of shopping. We spent a 12 trip in Mexico and our day with him truly was a highlight of the trip. HIGHLY recommend his tours to make your trip to Chichen Itza memorable.

Finally, a tour guide who knows how to give his guests the best experience. Booking a trip when you're on holiday always feels like a bit of a gamble and its normally easier to go with the 'safe' option of booking through a hotel, but you often end up on an overpriced, average tour on a big coach that feels hurried as it runs to a strict timetable. I've always hated those types of tours, so wanted a a reasonably priced private tour designed around me. After reading the reviews for a number of tours, Señor Travel Bug jumped out at me. Not only does he have 100% rating but all the reviews were saying the same thing about how relaxed and friendly Paul is and how interesting and informative the tour is. I booked the tour with my family (for some reason, none of the tours to Chichén Itzá are cheap and even the tours that appear cheap soon end up more expensive once ticket costs are added, etc. This private tour cost virtually the same as a coach trip for 50 people). We opted to go for the tour in his Audi rather than the Beetle as it has better air conditioning! The tour was a joy from start to finish. Paul gave us loads of information throughout the day that kept both myself and kids interested. He welcomed as many questions as we could ask and was happy to go deeper into certain areas if we wanted or keep it brief if we were getting overwhelmed with knowledge. For Chichén Itzá Paul is supported by a local guide, so whilst Paul gives the tour the local expert was able to join in and provide some additional expert insight into some of the iconography and history. The tour went entirely at our pace, we spent over 4 hours just at Chichén Itzá (a record apparently as the tour is normally around 3 hours), this was mainly due to my wife's shopping, but we never felt hurried or rushed once. However, the special sauce in Paul's tour and what sets it apart from any other tour I've been on (and I've been on dozens of tours around the world), is that, like me, Paul is a keen photographer and during the day took over 100 photos and videos of myself and the family. He knows the best vantage points and how to take the fun shots. This is probably the first holiday where I'm actually in most of the photos instead of being behind the lens! At the end of the day Paul provides you with all the photos and videos (incl. a montage video), free of charge. No overpriced single photos in a frame, nothing like that - 100+ quality photos of the trip for free. Having your own photographer on the trip is worth the tour cost alone. I only wish we could have stayed in Mexico longer to have been able to go on some of Paul's other trips. Paul set up his travel company to pursue his passion for travel following a long career with a major bank. I would highly recommend one of his tours.

Spent the day with Paul, and it was fantastic. He is a super personable and knowledgeable guide who taught us about Chichén Itzá and kept it interesting for myself and my family the entire time. He then tailored our lunch plans so that we had an authentic and delicious experience. We then finished off with a refreshing swim in a beautiful uncrowded cenote, and a tour of Valladolid. A huge extra bonus was that he took really wonderful photos and videos for us the whole day. Highly recommended, you will enjoy your tour with Paul.

Pick up on time, very talkative and took many photos. Got recommended by friends and I was so glad I did. Gave us so many facts and told us about Mayan culture. Comfortable car and took us to amazing places for food. Overall amazing experience and would definitely recommend.

Everything was perfectly organized – pick-up on time, comfortable ride, and no rush. The guide made the tour feel special with great stories and personal insights, not just dry facts. What impressed me most was the friendly and personal attitude – he answered all my questions, helped with photos, and even gave great local tips. It honestly felt like spending the day with a good friend rather than a tour guide. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic and fun experience in Mexico! 🌴🇲🇽

We were recommended to Paul by my brother as he had earlier been to Mexico in 2025. Chose the chichen itza, cenote and valladolid trip to get a feel for Mexico and a bit of history. Paul was absolutely great and made the day one to remember. He is very knowledgeable, very easy to get on with and you won't regret booking with him. Got some great photos and vids at each site, egged me on to swing into the cenote (thanks Paul), tried some local drinks and had some great street food. He will take you for food drink based on your preferences. All in all a great time was had by my family and would definitely book another trip should we return to Mexico.
