  We were fully aware of the price when booking and intentionally chose a private tour over group tours or free walking tours, which are widely available in Cartagena. The issue here is not the cost, but the value delivered. Although the tour was advertised as a 3-hour private experience, it lasted less than 2 hours. For a private tour, we expected a deeper, more engaging exploration of the city. Instead, the guide’s narration felt like a memorized list of dates and events tied to specific locations, with little storytelling or meaningful context. The tour started at 10:30 a.m., but the guide appeared rushed throughout and seemed eager to finish early because he had another tour scheduled afterward. This significantly detracted from the experience and is not what one expects from a private tour. Communication prior to the tour was also poor. We contacted the operator multiple times through Viator to confirm the pickup location and received no response. Eventually, we had to locate a WhatsApp number to message the tour company. Only then were we told that our hotel was not included in the pickup area, despite having provided the hotel name during booking. There was no advance notice that pickup would be unavailable or require an additional fee. Overall, this private tour did not meet expectations and failed to justify its premium positioning. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company or its tour guide.

  Touring the old town of Cartagena feels like stepping into a living storybook where history, color, and Caribbean warmth blend seamlessly. As you wander the cobblestone streets, you’re surrounded by vibrant colonial buildings draped in bougainvillea, grand wooden balconies, and centuries-old churches that echo with the city’s rich past. Music drifts from plazas where locals dance, cafés spill onto sunlit sidewalks, and the sea breeze carries the scent of fresh fruit and salt air. Every turn reveals something enchanting—hidden courtyards, handcrafted shops, or views of the ancient stone walls that once protected the city. It’s a place where time slows down, charm fills every corner, and the magic of Cartagena invites you to linger just a little longer.

  Willie was a very good guide. He spoke good English and was well versed in the local history. He actually had a bachelor's degree in history and he was very friendly and personable. Be advised though that the tour involves quite a bit of walking and it can be very hot, but it is worth it. The old walled city is a cultural gem with a huge assortment of architectural gems. So wear comfortable walking shoes and be used to walking, because we probably walked between 5 and 8 miles. It was just my wife and I and one other British couple and Willie our guide. Much better than going on similar walking tours with the cruise ship and 20 or 30 other people. We were all in our mid to late 60's and had no problems making the trek.

  The tour was very informative- I learned a lot. You could tell that Willy our tour guide was passionate about the history he was sharing with us. He brought the information to us in a way that made us want to know more. We asked a lot of questions.

  My wife and I went on a walking tour with Willy and it exceeded our expectations. He is extremely knowledgeable on the history of the city and the entire region. I learn a ton and he made it fun and tied everything into the areas we visited. He took us to a top quality emerald dealer and I got a discount on a ring for my wife. He provided refreshments and if we were hungry or thirsty he quickly worked in some amazing recommendations for everything. Very professional. Speaks Spanish and English. Highly recommend!! Willy is the absolute best.

  My private walking tour through the Walled City and Getsemaní was nothing short of incredible! Right from the start, our guide welcomed us with warmth and a wealth of knowledge about Cartagena’s history and culture. Every step through the Walled City came with a story, and the way our guide shared them was so engaging that I couldn’t help but get caught up in the magic of it all. Getsemaní, though, was the real surprise. Its streets are alive with vibrant murals, color, and an infectious energy. Our guide pointed out the cultural revival happening there, adding layers of meaning to everything we saw. Plus, he had great tips for where to grab authentic local bites, which was an unexpected bonus. This tour wasn’t just a walk—it was a deep dive into the heart of Cartagena’s past and present. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to truly experience the city!

  I was fascinated by getting to know the city walking through emblematic sites, its culture and history impacted me. The afternoon was very nice as was its genge. I would do it again.
