Join us for this half day walking tour of York, which gives you a great overview of this beautiful city in Yorkshire. York Railway Station

Starting from York’s magnificent 19th century train station, we make our way towards the walled City. Whilst not much remains of the original Roman walls, the refurbished sections let us stroll in safety whilst enjoying a privileged view.

Museum Gardens

Once inside the walls we cross the River Ouse, then enter the Museum gardens, giving us the chance to look around St Mary’s Abbey. Historically this grand building was a very rich monastery, originally built in the 11th century home to the Benedictine Monks, it was dissolved in 16th century. Only a few walls remain, however you can still see the Abbots house and its various styles owing to years of change. Maybe your guide can point out the window belonging to the room where Henry VIII stayed!

Sarah was fantastic. Her knowledge of the York Minster was amazing. Having Sarah as our guide on a private tour for our four family members truly brought the history of York to life. We would highly recommend both Sarah and the private tour format.

We had no expectations, and no clue of what we were going to find. Our tour guide, Sarah was fabulous! An incredible storyteller, historian, and host. She made the tour super interesting and approachable. The stories, history, pride, the sounds and the smells, the people make York a very intriguing destination. We are very happy. We hopped on this tour. And it only scratched the surface!! Sara is a great example of touring with perfection. And she is sweet, professional, and approachable to boot!

Our tour guide Sarah was amazing! She answered all of our questions about the history of York, she even showed my kids a Harry Potter shop!

Sarah was amazing and gave us a great introduction to York! We only had a few days to spend there and this was a wonderful way to make a list of the places we wanted to visit. Highly recommend!
