  A massively exhilarating experience. More white water than we’ve experienced previously, but the kit was all in excellent condition and our guide Gustavo was hugely experienced and very calm. Our host on the bus, Jairo who also lead one of the boats was also fantastic.We felt we were in very good hands. A thoroughly enjoyable half day speeding through Costa Rica.

  From the pick up, the driving, the informative information given to us by Carlos our guide on the bus and our guide on the raft, everything was absolutely exciting. Carlos gave us all the necessary instructions needed to succeed on our adventure and we were not let down. We came down with no problems, stopped 1/2 way and were given the sweetest pineapple and watermelon as a snack, after which we proceeded down, saw a sloth, various iguanas and tons of birds. When we finished rafting we were taken to a farm to table restaurant where we were given their traditional food, which was delicious and the best coffee, followed by a shot of sugar cane and then a shot of sugar cane moonshine. It was a great adventure and would highly recommend and would definitely do it again.

  We were travelling from Manuel Antonio to Arenal and Wave expeditions tour was perfect. We were picked up at our hotel in manuel antonio at 7am and had a 4 hour drive to the rapids. We were dropped off at launch point and were set up with gear. . All of our luggage was kept safe in the van by our driverIt was a little chaotic when we first arrived (got the sense that everything was very rushed and somewhat confusing.) But then we met our tour guide Moises who was amazing. He patiently explained how we should paddle and different instructions we should listen for. Rapids were exciting but never felt dangerous and Moises kept everything under control. He also pointed out a ton of wildlife during the trip. After rafting we had a place to change into dry clothes, get water or a beer and use the bathroom before they drove us to a restaurant in a farm that served a delicious buffet lunch of traditional costa rican food. After that, we were dropped off at our hotel in Arenal. Great way to make the most of a travel day. Special thanks again to Moises!

  This experience was fantastic, the slightly more difficult section was exciting with the lesser waves meaning you are able to relax a bit and take in the scenery. You may even see some wildlife, we were lucky to see a Sloth, two Iguanas and a pair if Toucan. I highly recommend this trip. If you can get Momo as your guide you are guaranteed a blast.

  We really enjoyed this trip. Everything was smooth. Our raft guide Argenis, did a great job leading us through the rapids. Lunch as delicious. Highly recommend this trip of visiting Arenal area.

  Our white water rafting excursion was the highlight of our stay in Costa Rica! I have two teenage children and we all had so much fun. Our guide was awesome and when I accidentally fell out of the boat, he was able to quickly get me back in and continued through the rapids almost without missing a beat.   Excellent tour with amazing tour guides! A wild ride on the Rio Balsa and so much fun! Jose Oliverares was our driver for the entire day and had great energy for the long day and long drive after rafting and lunch to Manuel Antonio (5 hours). His cooler of cold drinks and upbeat attitude was very pleasant. He informed us about places we passed with a smile on his face and confident singing voice!

  This was our first time white water rafting, and it was exhilarating! We did the Class 2-3 rafting + transfer from Arenal to Manuel Antonio. The guides were very meticulous in balancing the people in the boats, and made sure everyone had a safe but fun ride. Our guide (Georgio?) made us feel safe the whole time, remaining calm and giving clear instructions while we paddled furiously in the rapids. The team also made sure to point out interesting wildlife as well as information about the area. It was a long day between shuttles and on the water, but our driver Jose Olivares was amazing. We made several quick stops for food, photo-ops, and bathroom breaks on the way to our hotel in Manuel Antonio. He was a great driver, very friendly, and professional.

  An amazing time for the whole family! Our rafting guide Momo, was simply the best! He kept us safe, was very entertaining, and allowed us to experience all the adventure and beauty that the Costa Rica rainforest has to offer. The Sarapiquí river is gorgeous!

  

• Our favorite experience in Costa Rica with our favorite guide MOMO

  Everyone in our group agreed that this was our favorite expedition during our 7-day Costa Rica trip. Namely because Momo was the best guide we’ve ever met- hilarious, high energy, and skilled/experienced. He heard one of the couples hadn’t spotted a sloth yet, so Momo pointed out TWO sloths in the trees along the river. We were able to view them without a lens (something we couldn’t even do on the dedicated sloth tour). On top of being incredibly funny and personable, Momo was really skilled in keeping the group coordinated. The whole process was well organized - instructions are provided on the drive over and reviewed in the raft before taking off. Halfway down the river, you’ll pull over to the side for a quick break and the guides prepare fruit, so you stay hydrated. Highly recommend.
