Mitrovica, situated in the North of Kosovo, is the town that was badly affected by the 1999 Kosovo War. Following several ethnic tensions, in 2013, the city is officially divided in Mitrovica South (with Kosovo Albanian Majority) and North (with Kosovo Serbian majority), separated by river Ibri (Ibar), becoming a symbol of Kosovo's ethnic divisions - but yet, an interesting place to visit and see. The city is famous for its mine called Trepça, rich in lead, zinc, silver, gold, crystals etc. , which has historically been one of Kosovo largest industries. It is the only city in Kosovo that has four rivers: Ibri, Sitnica, Lushta and Trepça. Traces of the city dates back to the Neolithic time, as many exhibit archeological exhibit pieces were found in archeological sites.

Turb of Sultan Murad
Visit the tomb of Sultan Murat, which is consider to be the oldest ottoman buliding in Kosovo. There is also museum that show history of the battle of Kosovo of 1389, between ottoman army and christian armies in Balkans. It is place to learn more about medieval history of Kosovo and more.

5.00One of the best tours I've ever made. Bekim will guide you for an excellent experience trough Kosovo with recent and ancient history. He took us to places where we wouldn't visit whithout guide. Very interesting as a person and very good comunication. Totally worth it!

5.00Ilir led us through the eventful history of Kosovo in a very exciting, varied, authentic and understandable way. He also put current events into context and explained them clearly and answered questions. The day flew by. I highly recommend Ilir and this tour, not least because of the one or two funny anecdotes that you probably won't find in any travel guide.
The day with my expert guide was an unforgettable experience which I will treasure.
