  Picchio Nature Tours did not cancel even if I was the only one who signed up, so kudos to Picchio! Yuki was not only the driver but tour guide and very good at spotting the birds and wildlife - we got my target birds (the Tancho and Shima Enaga), Stellars and White-tailed Eagles and other bird species plus saw lots of Sika deer and an Ezo Fox. This was a drive along the road and stop, take photos when a bird or wildlife is spotted type of tour then a longer stop at a Tancho feeding spot - very chill and productive!

  Amazing experience and great english speaking guide. We were able to spot many cranes, deers, one fox and two eagles. I would definitely do it again if I had the chance or choose other tours from the same company

  We had an incredible experience with Picchio Tour Company! Our guide, Yuki, was absolutely amazing and provided top-notch service from start to finish. She was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to help us spot and identify local wildlife, including Hokkaido deer, eagles, and the majestic red-crowned cranes. Thanks to her expertise, we were able to capture stunning photos of these animals. • A great experience seeing lots of interesting birds and wildlife

  Our guide Yuki was so wonderful, she was very knowledgeable about the landscape and wildlife that we saw. In addition to cranes, we’re lucky enough to see Steller’s sea eagle from a close distance. It was an amazing experience and definitely worth the trip to Kushiro.

• A Great Kushiro Experience

  Yuki guided us on a 4 hr afternoon tour around Tsurui and the Kushiro Wetlands to see the wildlife costing 12700 yen We joined another couple of groups and in total there were 6 of us on the tour. Yuki managed to get us to see all of the famed Kushiro species, including the Red Crowned Cranes, Black Kites, Sellers Sea Eagles, White Tailed Eagles, Snow Fairies and Red Foxes. There were plenty of Sika Deer to see as well as some Hokkaido Ponies and plenty of other more common sights. Yuki supplied high quality binoculars to those of us who needed them, and enthuisastically kept us informed throughout the whole tour of what we were seeing, and the conservation efforts ongoing for some of these endangered species. Yuki would stop the car whenever a good sighting happened to allow us to get a better view or pics. When I return to Hokkaido, I will use picchio again, the tour and Yuki were fantastic.

  

  

  

• Respect and Love for the Wildlife with warm hospitality

  We came to Kushiro to see the Redcrowned cranes. My mother had taught me the story of the 1000 cranes. Our guide Yuki was excellent and shared her knowledge with us in our English Language excellently. We saw the astonishing Red Crowned Cranes and the Steller's Eagle and the White Tailed Eagle; Yuki spotted the small birds - the red headed woodpecker and the larger birds - swans and duck and geese on the lake. We also were given expert conservation education by Yuki. We missed seeing the foxes but did see their straight walks (paths of paw prints) over white and otherwise untouched snow. The small number of the group tour increased our enjoyment. Yuki helped me take photos through the telescope. For refreshments Yuki took us to a beautiful little log cabin cafe built by hand where the owner served warm tea and Hokkaido Cookies and Corn sweet. The Coffee was also good! The Owner told us stories of her father's fishing in the nearby river and her husband's skill in building the cabin from wood and a lot of its furniture. The Owner herself was excellent at flower arrangement. Higly recommend the Yuki and Picchio. We will check out their other tours too.

  It was a really nice little trip to the cranes. Yuki was wonderful and highly recommended. Would have no trouble in doing it again if I returned.

  This was the most perfect tour that I could have asked for. Traveling from San Diego to see the red crowned cranes alone was worth it. Fortunately for us, we got to see an incredible amount of wildlife on the way to the cranes. It is not guaranteed; however, we saw stellar sea eagles, buzzards, jays, snow fairies, and deer. Yuki was a great tour guide as she is very knowledgeable about birds, is kind, and speaks English. The company that hosts this tour is also a good cause, as they focus on research and conservation, and were very helpful in planning this trip. I recommend you book with them as you will give money to a good cause and, in return, see amazing things.

  Thank you for an excellent tour. Our guide, Yuki, was professional, knowledgeable and very obliging. She spoke English very well. During our tour, we saw white swans, deer, foxes, rare Steller’s sea eagles and of course, red crowned cranes. The scenery was stunning, just be sure to rig up and stay warm!
