Enjoy the Sami experience of reindeer sledding, where you'll enjoy a long sleigh ride (30 mins) pulled by a wild reindeer. Then feed a herd of 300 reindeer at the camp, and gather inside a traditional Sami tent for a hot meal and to listen to stories about Sami culture around the campfire. 30 minute bus ride from city center. Check in was easy. Our tour was Christmas Eve and fully booked. Our guide assured us everyone would experience everything. They divided us into groups to rotate between reindeer feeding and sledding. We had plenty of time for both and a quick visit to the gift shop before the meal and Sami cultural talk. The reindeer were gentle and fun to feed. The sleigh ride was fun and the surrounding scenery was beautiful. The reindeer stew was delicious and filling. Bathrooms are available on site and free. We had a bonus showing of the Northern Lights just before we headed back to town. 100% recommend this excursion.

From start to finish every person we dealt with on this tour was warm friendly and professional. Everything was well organised but we had time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and animals without pressure and too many people crowding around. We don't often do tours and were a bit skeptical of how today would go but it has been a memorable and special experience.

A great trip for a young family. The Sami guides and sledging experience were brilliant. A great mix of fun and culture

Sami culture insights was very interesting. With delicious meals. We even saw nordern lights in the early afternoon which is very rare 🤩. The female Sami is very authentic and knew a lot to share about the sami culture.

I had a memorable time on this tour and thoroughly enjoyed many aspects of the experience. Feeding the reindeer was a magical and heartwarming experience, and the sleigh ride through the snowy landscape was serene and beautiful. The highlight of the day was learning about Sami culture in the cozy lavvu, where the stories and traditions shared by the hosts added so much depth and meaning to the experience. It was truly special and something I will cherish. However, there were several issues that made parts of the experience unnecessarily stressful. First, the organization of the sleigh groups was extremely chaotic. When we politely asked a guide which sleigh was ours to ride, we were told, “Well, you were too slow, so now you have to wait for the next group.” This was frustrating, as we had been trying to be considerate and avoid confusion, only to feel like having manners was being punished. When the next group returned, the same guide told us once again it wasn’t our turn. This back-and-forth made it exasperating to find a seat, and we ended up rushing between feeding the reindeer and trying to catch returning sleighs, only to repeatedly be denied. Clearer instructions and better organization could have resolved this issue entirely. Another negative experience was an interaction with one of the guides regarding my camera. While holding my camera (which was not recording), I approached her to ask where we should sit on the sleigh, and she suddenly accused me of filming her without permission. Despite my reassurance that the camera wasn’t on, her reaction was unnecessarily harsh and left a sour taste in my mouth. I fully respect the need for privacy, but if this is a concern, it should be clearly communicated before the tour begins. There was no mention of restrictions on photography or filming in the booking details, which made the scolding feel unfair. After this, I felt anxious about using my camera at all and had to repeatedly ask other guides for permission, which they seemed confused by and assured me wasn’t a problem. The inconsistency between guides made the experience unnecessarily tense. Despite these frustrations, the overall tour was beautiful, and I truly appreciated the opportunity to connect with the reindeer and learn about the Sami way of life. With better organization and clearer communication regarding policies, this tour could be exceptional. I would still recommend it for the unique cultural and wildlife experiences, but I would advise others to clarify logistics and expectations with the staff beforehand to avoid similar misunderstandings.
