Transfer from Riga city to Vilnius city with included visit to Rundale Palace and Bauska Castle.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Riga by our English speaking driver.
This trip will take totally about 7 to 8 hours. Local restaurants for lunch will be advised.
Please note that this daytrip does not include licensed guide service. Our English speaking driver will give basic info, answer your questions, lead to the ticket offices and will advise best local restaurants for lunch. If licensed guide is requested it can be arranged at an additional cost at the sights that we will be visiting, please inform us in advance if such service is needed so we can book it for you.
Please keep in mind or check sites you desire to visit as during the Winter month some sites do not operate every day of the week. Our drivers will advice alternative sites to fill up your day if any of the sites are closed.

You will be picked up from your hotel in Riga by our English speaking driver and will drive to Latvias region of Bauska. After the visit of Rundale palace we will have short drive to Bauska castle and afterwards we'll drive straight to Vilnius city. Your driver will lead you up to the museum ticket office. This will be full day trip and Local restaurants for lunch will be advised by our driver. Please inform us in advance if you have any detours in mind and we will adjust the route accordingly, we're flexible! Rundāle Palace - one of Latvia’s hidden gems, due to its difficult to reach location, is the Baroque palace of Rundale. Designed by the Italian architect, Bartolomeo Rastrelli, famous for the Hermitage and Peterhof in Russia, this is quite simply one of the most stunning buildings in the Baltic region. Palace was built from 1736 until 1768 as the summer residence for the Duke of Courland, Ernst Johann von Biron, by Rastrelli. It served as a palace for various nobility up until the first world war, when it became a garrison for the German army. From then Rundale suffered, as it was used as a hospital, school and even for grain storage before becoming a museum in the 1970’s. Bauska Castle ensemble consists of two sections. Livonian Order Castle, built in the middle of the 15th century, is the oldest one - with only ruins remaining. A more recent part of the ensemble, built in the late 16th century, is the residence of the Kettlers, the Dukes of Courland. The oldest part of Bauska Castle is built specially for the use of firearms. It is a characteristic example of Latvia’s 15th-17th century military construction. The residence-type castle, fortified with bastions, fortification walls and earthen ramparts, is a more recent structure. The reconstruction of the more recently built part of the castle began in the 1970s with the aim to turn it into a tourism object as a part of historical, archeological and architectural heritage of national importance.

5.00Martins (driver) was prompt, friendly and accommodating. We had a very nice time making our way from Riga to Vilnius seeing Bauskas Castle and Rundales Palace along the way. Great lunch recommendation. Even better chat about the Baltic Republics during the drive. Would book again.

5.00this is a very efficient way of travelling if you are 2 or 3 . It is cost effective and comfortable to include sight seeing at our own pace. Artis our driver was very safe and courteous. The only unclear thing was about tip to give to driver. It was not made clear whether we expected to do this as it costs about £400 for the transfer and 10% would be £40. Normally at this price point gratuity would be included in the cost. It would be better to make it clear whether is expected or not to avoid any embarrassment.

5.00Excellent trip. Our guide, Artist did an excellent job. The timing worked out wonderfully, he was there early and we had plenty of time in each location. I messed up and didn’t realize the Hill of Crosses was not included, but they would have happily have added it if I would have asked before. It wasn’t a huge deal for us, but do make sure you ask for it if you want it added to your trip.

5.00We travelled from Riga to Vilnius with Kalis the driver, visiting Bauska Castle and Rundale Palace. Kalis met up with us as we requested and made a well-arranged sightseeing trip for us. The minivan was pretty spacious and comfortable. Both of the castle and the palace are amazing and highly recommended. Besides, we paid a little bit (30 euros) to make a detour to Hill of Crosses as well. It’s highly recommended if you’d like to visit these sites with friends on way to Vilnius, or to Riga.

5.00Another great trip with Karlis. We were picked up at our hotel in Riga and made two interesting stops (a palace and a castle) and then driven to our hotel in Vilnius. Karlis had driven us two days earlier from Tallinn and Riga and we were happy with his safe driving and interesting commentary along the way. Thanks so much, Karlis.
