Visit and work in a real artist studio in Munich. Get behind-the-scenes insight into the making artworks and the printmaking process. Find out about the environmentally friendly Risograph printing machine made in Japan which uses inks made from soy oil and stencils made from rice paper. Print your own artwork on the Riso printer. You will be guided by a professional artist, who is a painter, printmaker, and drawing teacher. Penelope is also a fountain of knowledge about contemporary art and art activities in Munich.

The workshop takes place in my Munich artist studio, minutes from Ostbahnhof. Over two inspiring hours, I’ll guide you through making Risograph stencils and designing a unique two-color artwork. By the end, you’ll understand the basics of printmaking, get to know Risograph technology, and carry home your own artworks. This experience is perfect for anyone curious about art and design, from beginners to seasoned makers. It’s a fun, hands-on activity that fits right into your vacation, and it’s open to all ages. The standard workshop runs two hours, but we can extend if you have a bigger project in mind. 5.00Penelope is a wonderful teacher, who clearly enjoys imparting her skills and knowledge and is excited to see how others apply this in the creation of artworks. I undertook a Risograph print class with her in 2022 and it was loads of fun! It was especially nice to be working in an artist studio, with lots of creative atmosphere. Penelope went out of her way to make people feel at home and even provided typical German treats for us! The Risograph process allows for quick multiple prints but also possible variations as well as some surprisingly serendipitous outcomes along the way. I learnt a lot, produced lots of prints and thoroughly enjoyed the class. I can definitely recommend it!
