Foro Romano
Admire the heart of the Ancient Rome! The Forum was indeed one of the most important place in the ancient world, since it was here where public and social life were lived. Conceived originally for commericial purpose, over the centuries the Forum turned into a real warzone for the politcal power, marked by intense battles fought by artworks and public buildings, as usual during the Republican Age. This and much more to discover and learn about during a pleasant but informative walking with our guides.

The tour experience itself and the guide were very good. The issue was finding the location of the meeting point - 20 minutes of frustration. Directions are not clear and they need to have their people out sorting through the countless tourists who are trying to find their respective tours.

The Colosseum itself is amazing. It’s history you can walk through. But our guide, while full of knowledge, concentrated on minutiae. He repeatedly told us he had three masters degrees but apparently thought we were masters level students. We wanted basic information about the Colosseum, its history, and what occurred there but he gave us extraneous details while not giving us the basic information. He was unable to answer questions directly and appeared to love to hear himself talk. Honestly, he seemed like a frustrated professor, who, for whatever reason, is not teaching at a university and used us as a proxy. My partner and I both have advanced degrees and even so, we were frustrated at his inability to convey the basics in an understandable and entertaining way. In our group of about 20, most people just gave up and left the group before we completed the tour. Finally, our tour was supposed to include the Roman Forum. We were told at the beginning of the tour that there was a private event there and therefore we would not be going into the Forum. We were told we could go the next day to see the Forum but we had another trip planned that day. We should have been offered a partial refund. In summary, you should absolutely visit the Colosseum, especially if have an interest in history. But I hope you get a guide who is more interested providing you with basic information and less interested in showing how smart he is.
