  Our visit to the Rum Academy in Antigua was an absolute highlight of our trip! From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the fascinating world of Caribbean rum-making. We sampled a variety of rums — some impressively strong — and then had the chance to create our own custom blend, which was both fun and surprisingly challenging. The experience was made truly special by our wonderful host, Jody, whose engaging, personable, and friendly manner instantly put us at ease. Her deep knowledge of rum, paired with her great sense of humor and warm encouragement, made the entire session both educational and entertaining. She has a gift for making everyone feel welcome and involved, no matter their level of experience. We also want to extend our thanks to Jody’s lovely colleague (whose name escapes us, unfortunately!) for her warmth and support throughout the session. Her quiet attentiveness and kind presence added to the welcoming atmosphere and made the experience even more enjoyable. And of course, a big thank you to Imran, our driver, who took us to and from the Academy with care and good cheer. His knowledge of the island, his sense of humor, and his warm, friendly manner made the journey just as memorable as the destination. He was a fantastic guide and a pleasure to spend time with. If you're visiting Antigua and looking for a unique, fun, and flavorful experience, the Rum Academy is a must. We left with great memories, a bottle of our own creation, and a newfound appreciation for the art of rum-making. Highly recommended!

  If you’re ever in Antigua, you should definitely do this class - my husband and I have been to several rum tours in the Caribbean and this is hands down the best rum activity we’ve ever done. And the personalized bottles were a beautiful touch❤️

  I had an incredible experience at the rum-making class in Antigua! From start to finish, it was fun, informative, and absolutely delicious. The hosts did a fantastic job of explaining the history and process behind rum while keeping everything lively and engaging. If you’re visiting Antigua and want to do something memorable, I can’t recommend this class enough.   We visited the Rum Academy in mid-August, which is considered the down season in Antigua, lucky for us, because we ended up being the only group there! That meant we got incredibly personalized attention throughout the entire course, which made the experience not only informative but full of fun and laughter. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their craft, which made the whole vibe feel like a private masterclass with friends. The rum flight was absolutely delicious, each sample had its own unique character, and tasting them side by side really helped us appreciate the nuances. When planning our trip to Antigua, this was the very first excursion I booked, and I’m so glad I did. He especially loved diving into the distilling process, which perfectly complemented his existing knowledge of mead making and moonshine. It was the perfect blend of education and entertainment. One of the best parts? You get to take home your own bottle of rum, crafted during the course! Just a heads-up: pack some bubble wrap in your checked luggage to keep your bottle safe on the journey home. Trust me, you’ll want to savor it later and relive the memories. If you’re looking for a unique, hands-on experience in Antigua that combines culture, craftsmanship, and a splash of good humor, the Rum Academy is a must. Highly recommend!

  Even if you don’t love rum, this is a great experience. Lots of tasting and the you have the chance to craft your own bottle of rum. Finishing with dipping the top of the bottle in red wax.

  If you're heading to Antigua and love a good drink with a side of history, you have to check out the rum-making class—it was hands-down one of the highlights of our trip! The class was not only super fun but also incredibly informative. We learned so much about the process of how rum is made, from start to finish. The best part? You get your own FULL-sized personalized bottle to take home, decorated beautifully and professionally, it honestly looked like something you'd buy in a high-end shop! And don’t worry they don’t just throw info at you. They start you off with a few shots to get the vibes going early, so you’re in a great mood by the time the tasting kicks off. 😄 There’s plenty of rum to taste, so pace yourself, but if you need a little something to soak it up, there’s food available just a few feet away. Perfect for a light snack in between sips! The views are unreal you’re literally right on the water, steps from the beach, and there's even a DJ spinning tunes to keep the energy high. It’s the perfect combo of education, fun, and island vibes. 10/10 recommend this experience if you're looking to do something unique, boozy, and super memorable while visiting the beautiful island of Antigua! 🏝️🍹🇦🇬

  What a fantastic afternoon we spent at the Academy of Rum! I went along with my adult children, and we had a blast tasting delicious rums then making our own. It was such an informative session - we learnt so much about the process of distilling rum - with lots of laughs too. I would highly recommend this trip - and already have done to eveyone I met in Antigua! Truly superb! Just a tip - If you go on a Thursday to Sunday (in low season) there should also be a beautiful beach bar open on Galleon Beach. We were there on a Monday and aside from the Academy of Rum there was nothing in the area that was open, which foiled our plan to arrive early and have lunch before! I assume in high season it’s a really busy area as the beach itself was lovely.

  An amazing experience in a great location. Nellie was really knowledgeable and enthusiastic and taught us lots about rum. Great value for money as we left with two bottles of rum too!
