The sacred valley tour is one of the typical and famous tour in cusco region, the road north from cusco climbing up to as pass undulating across the pampa and then descends dramatically in to the spectacular, fertile Urubamba valley, which is also known as the valle sagrado (sacred valley). The mighty river that flows through the valley was considered sacred by the Incas. From pisac it is known as the vilcanota. Downstream it tends to be refore to as the Urubamba. The Incas built their palaces, religious centers alongside of this giant tributary of the amazon river, include the citadel of pisac and ollantaytambbo, such as salineras and moray are also here. The region is considered sacred because its vital importance to Cusco, the area is rich in history so it’s worth allocating several days to explore it fully.

We have our dinner in Ollantaybambo Town in one of the best restaurants.
Pisac
We pick you up from your hotel at 8:00am. Then we head towards the sacred valley by minivan. Our first stop will be Awanacancha where your tour guide explains you about (llamas, alpacas, viñas farm), and the traditional clothes production. Our second stop is at a lookout from where you can see the entire sacred valley of the Incas and the Urubamba River. Once enjoyed this amazing view we will drive towards the Inca citadel of Pisac. Here you will witness and learn about Incas history and appreciate the stone works, agricultural farming terraces, the big Inca cemetery and much more.
Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo
There we will get a guided tour through the impressive Inca fortress.

Today is a very important day Remember we will visit one of the 7 wonder of the world, so many people will go there. At 5.00am your guide will pick you up at your hotel. From there you will go to the bus station to take the bus for 25 minutes until the entrance gate of Machu Picchu, the most important Inca citadel. At the entrance you will have to show your original passport and then you will enter the citadel. Usually we will have the chance to see the sunrise above the ruins. The best spot to enjoy the sunrise is at guardhouse, from where you can take amazing post card pictures. After enjoying the sunrise you will get a guided tour (about 2.30h) through the ruins, walking and exploring all of the famous places of this impressive citadel such as temples, palaces and plazas. After the tour you will have some free time to explore more places by yourself. If you have an entrance tickets for the Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu Mountains you will have time to climb them now. The ones who will not climb one of those mountains you can visit the Inca Bridge or climb up to the sun gate from where you will have beautiful views.

5.00We had a wonderful experience with our guide, David! He was incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. David shared so much fascinating history about the Inka Kingdom and really helped bring the sites to life for us. He was especially great with our kids—super friendly and engaging—and made the whole experience enjoyable for the whole family. He also took plenty of great photos for us, which we truly appreciated. Above all, David is a genuinely kind and thoughtful person. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for an exceptional guide!

5.00Wow. What an incredible and informative tour. I had decided to extend my holiday while in Tarapoto, Peru and flew to Cusco on a whim for 2 additional days. I'm a seasoned solo traveler and figured I could find my way around myself, a gross error in this region. Tourism is tightly controled in Peru and you have to book a ticket far in advance to really appreciate Machu Picchu (circuit 2). I was able to coordinate this short tour to leverage the reputation of a highly proven tourism company while also being flexible by having just a single tour guide and driver with me while traveling solo. Public transit isn't very well developed and this turned out to be the best way to appreciate the sights. My guide, David Herrera Pezo, is and was phenomenal. His native roots and in-depth understanding of the Inca culture provided a well balanced and thorough informative adventure. He was relaxed, flexible, a gracious host, and came to be my friend. I will be back to hike the Inca trail (a 4 day hike with cooks and tent) and I plan on reaching out to David and the company to plan my next adventure.

5.00My recent visit to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu was extraordinary, thanks largely to our private guide David Herrera. From the beginning, he was noted for his vast knowledge and passion for Peruvian history and culture. He gave us fascinating details about every site we visited, from the stunning architecture of Ollantaytambo to the intricate details of the agricultural terraces in Morai. In Machu Picchu, its detailed and captivating narrative transported us back to the past, making us appreciate even more the magnificence of the place. Their professionalism and kindness made our trip comfortable and enriching. He took the time to answer all our questions and made sure we understood the historical and cultural importance of each place. 5.00Machulas Journey should be the only tour group you’re considering. Lluvia and Deivid and their team made our visit to Peru incredible!!! They took care every detail and everything felt so personalized and stress free . Rain Lluvia was so proud to share her wonderful country with us and it showed every day. We did Chinchero, Moray salt mine, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu. Having a local who knew all the ins and outs of the area that also took the most care to make sure we enjoyed ourselves made the entire trip. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Lluvia and his husband, Deivid. I spent the entire day with them, and they took me all over the Sacred Valley. They are from different communities, and their knowledge of everything runs deep. It was one of my favorite days in Peru, and I have Rain Lluvia as my tour organization and Deivid as my professional license tour guide thank for making it so special. 5.00I've always wanted to visit Machu Picchu for the longest time and my friend recommended me to book the 3 day Sacred Valley to Machupicchu through Machulas Journey had done it and gave rave reviews. The entire booking process and leadup to the tour the company was informative and when arriving in Cusco, i recommend acclimitising for 2-3 days. The briefing before the tour gives you all the information you need and they answer any questions you have with the guide for your tour. I was lucky enough to have one of the best, most knowledgeable and passionate guides of any tour I,ve ever done, their names is Lluvia and Deivid and just to see their enthusiasm and care for all of our experiences was incredible. I learnt so much about the quechuan culture and see that this is their lifes purpose. There is massive respect for all the culture and traditions Peru's present. This tour was everything you need. The 3 days tour on the Sacred Valley was incredible and then the tour of Machu Picchu the next day was perfect. Our tour agent were the best part. They were super helpful, informative and took the extra step to give us the best experience possible. Thank Lluvia and Deivid were the best! I really recommend to all Machulas Journey tour company!!

5.00What a spectacular trip! I saw so much in the two-day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu tour, but more importantly, I learned so much. David is a fantastic guide who is well-versed in all the historical facts. But what really brought the tour to life was the personal experiences he shared growing up in the region. He demonstrated a lot of reverence and respect for all the ancient sites and the communities that still inhabit these areas. In addition, he also customized the tour to my interests and abilities (it requires a certain level of fitness to climb up and down all the ruins). Further, even though I booked the tour at the eleventh hour, the company was able to finagle things to make it all happen for me, for which I am very appreciative.

5.00David is a very nice guy. He was toughtfull and pacient all the time (even with the elderly, im 68). The tour was amazing and he knows so much about Inka culture its impressive. I recomend him a lot. Awesome guide.
