Sani Pass

You can meet at our offices or we can collect you from your hotel & B&B if within 5km radius. We depart in a closed 4X4 vehicle with a private driver guide, leaving the picturesque town of Underberg and wind up the rugged Sani Pass, stopping on route at different viewpoints. Once we summit at 2874 meters above sea level we enter Lesotho.

Mokhotlong

Once we have finished tea at the Sani Top Church at the top of the Sani Pass we continue into Lesotho and travel up Black Mountain Pass for a short walk to a vantage point from where we view Thabana Ntlenyana – the highest peak in Southern Africa at 3482 meters above sea level. Travelling on to Mokhotlong via the stunningly beautiful Sehonghong Valley stopping on route for an ethnic Basotho experience which includes a visit to the Ngaka (traditional healer) and the artefact house. Travel onto Mokhotlong for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: After breakfast we explore Mokhotlong-once billed as the most remote village in the British Empire. Walk down the main road to view the rare Spiral Aloe.Visit St James Mission to see the fascinating ceiling of their church and back up the Sehonghong Valley,looking for the rare Bearded Vulture. Stop for lunch at a local venue before descending the Sani Pass back to Underberg.
