  Very insightful guide (Maider). We learned a lot about the gastronomy in Sam Sebastian. We got shown multiple «hidden gems» that normal tourism wouldn’t have taken us to.

  This was so fun and a great way to get to know the town. Mikel was wonderful and gave us so much history about San Sebastián! Be ready to walk and try foods like you’ve never tasted before.

  Amazing tour with local Mikel! The tour took us thru a few neighborhoods and we explored many local dishes and wines that were amazing. Mikel was knowledgeable, personable and an amazing guide. Highly recommend!

• Superb Day In San Sebastian

  From the very beginning we met Mikel, it was obvious the tour was going to be good. His greeting and friendly manner made us feel like we had known him for ages. We set off to the 1st stop where we had some excellent ham, local cider and gilda, the famous pintxos. We were told of the history of all the food and drink we were having. Moving on to the next spot we were again told of the history of San Sebastian and informed of various locations and buildings we passed which was really interesting. Moving on to more bars, some of which we went to so we could sample food not necessarily on the tour. This was no problem to Mikel and he re routed and re organised to suit our needs. This was above and beyond what we expected and cant thank Mikel enough for doing this. I personally sampled oysters for the 1st time in my 63 years as I had never really fancied trying them before but I must say they were delicious and I now realise what I have been missing. Near the end of the tour we went to a wine bar/shop where we sampled 2 very nice wines one white, which was a finer Txakoli (sorry if I spelt that wrong) and a really nice red one, I don't usually go for a red but it was an excellent one. We were joined in the bar by Mikel's girlfriend who was also lovely and we all seemed to get on really well. Once the tour was finished, Mikel invited us to join them in a couple more bars where they go to sample more excellent food and wine. The whole experience was topped off by being taken to a bar where there was a Brazillian singer who was really good and we had the best of times. I can not thank Mikel enough for his hospitality and friendliness throughout the whole day, a day which we will never forget and which I can honestly say was the highlight of our time in San Sebastian, which is saying something as San Sebastian is one of the best places I think I have ever been. We didn't get enough time to see everything we wanted to and will definitely be returning. I would thoroughly recommend Secret Food Tours and would say if Mikel is your host on the tour you will have an utterly superb time 15 out of 10 from me.   Our Secret Food Tour with Maider in San Sebastián was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. On our second day in town, she took us on a wonderful pintxo tour—not through the crowded, touristy bars filled with other groups, but to the authentic spots she, her mom, and her friends actually frequent. Walking through her neighborhood of Gros with her felt like being shown around by a friend: she was warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to share the food and culture she loves. The experience was amazing from start to finish, and she even left us with a personalized list of places to visit—one of which, Simona Coffee Club, became a daily stop for us. With Maider, we felt supported and taken care of the entire time. I honestly couldn’t recommend her or this tour enough. Outstanding.

  We really enjoyed this food tour. It was our first night in San Sebastian and we chose this tour to orient us to the food culture and the layout of the city. And the tour did exactly that! Javier our guide was very knowledgeable and shared with us the history and traditions of the food culture here. We loved that the tour took us to places where the locals socialise and eat and the food experiences were quality and locally authentic. It was a really wet night but Javier made the tour fun, with his good sense of humour and adaptability to the weather! Very enjoyable!
