A vibrant route where art, identity, and community take center stage. We begin in the historic Quinta Normal Park and briefly visit the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, a meaningful introduction to the context behind much of Santiago’s urban expression. Then we dive into Yungay’s streets, transformed into open-air galleries. Powerful murals tell stories, we'll get to know the artists and learn about the locals. We explore iconic cultural corners like Pasaje Adriana Cousiño, and Pasaje Lucrecia Valdés, discovering heritage façades full of colo. The journey continues into energetic Barrio Brasil — a hub for alternative art, local stages, and creativity in motion. We finish at the bohemian Barrio Concha y Toro, a cinematic maze of curved streets and artistic soul.
With Roots & Routes, we create tourism with meaning — and we’ll recommend the best local art spaces, bites, and drinks so you can keep exploring Santiago’s creative heartbeat.

Héctor was an engaging and interesting guide through some fascinating parts of Santiago. With a lot of knowledge about Chilean society, politics and contemporary history, he’s capable of passing on extraordinary insights about a variety of artists who have graced the walls of the Yungay neighborhood. It was especially cool to stop into the gallery of two artists and chat over a cool beer. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours.

My guide Hector is very energetic, knowledgeable & informative. It was really interesting to know about artists & the context/history behind the murals. The murals are really creative & beautiful, the Yungay neighborhood very charming. Hector also took us to several amazing restaurants that are very historic & look more like museums! After the trip, he even sent us his recommendations for food. I highly recommend everyone to sign up for this tour!!! (btw I had something to compare with as the next day I took another tour not with this agency to Valparaiso & it was meh... The guide was totally uninterested & did not give much information on the artists & murals.)

This tour was excellent. I had previously walked around the barrio but missed some pieces. In particular, I didn't know about some of the massive pieces such as the one on the apartment tower. But especially valuable was the history and stories behind the art works--many derive from political and social challenges in the country. We saw some picturesque streets and restaurants too. I wondered where the "Yungay" came from and Hector explained that. Many thanks to Hector for a wonderful tour.

A lovely evening walking the Yungay neighborhood and learning about the recent history, art and culture of Chile with a local. Especially poignant given the political changes occurring here and around the world. I was able to add a few really cool restaurants and bars to my list for the future too.
