This journey takes place in the Ribeira dos Caldeirões Natural Park, a remarkable park in the north-eastern region of São Miguel Island (approximately 45 minutes drive from the city of Ponta Delgada). Upon arrival, we will give you your personal equipment and then take a short walk of approximately 15 minutes to our starting destination for our first safety briefing. Along the way, you will encounter vertical obstacles in the form of waterfalls that can be overcome using abseiling techniques. The tallest waterfall is 8 metres high. With some short walking sections in between, there is also a fun area with a slide and a 5-metre jump.

Rodrigo and Diogo were great guides making for a fun experience! They were always conscience of our safety with all jumps, climbing, etc. We even had a small hiccup in our plans and they were very accommodating of our time. Thanks again for a great family adventure!!

I've been at the Azores for over 2 months, and definitely would recommend this activity! One of the coolest activities to do here on the island, if you're a nature lover who's in for a little adventure. I went with 2 friends and we had a great time canyoning out here! The guides where very fun, friendly and well qualified, and made us feel very safe. They'll challenge you to do the adventurous stuff, but always offer "less scary" alternatives if you're not up for something! Also a really good way to experience nature from a different perspective, being in the water, surrounded by the lush green trees and the birdies!

It was our first time canyoning but certainly not the last time. The tour was super fun for us and is highly recommended. At the end of the tour we received the pictures and videos of the tour for free. The route is varied and has something for everyone. From jumps to cable cars to abseiling yourself. We felt safe and well guided by our guides at all times. Thank you again.

Great experience! Super professional and nice staff, they made us feel safe from start to finish. Beautiful route between dives, natural slides and rope descents. Highly recommended, we would stay again immediately!

I was so afraid to do this and so was one of my friends and the other was a daredevil but the guides made us feel safe and always had lots of options if we were too scared to do a high jump.

We did the tour with a group of four people. The guides (Victor and Rodrigo) were really friendly and fun to be with. We had a lot of time and didn't feel rushed. We did every jump more than once. Can really recommend this tour if you want to go canyoning on Sao Miguel.

Absolutely brilliant experience! Canyoning with Basaltic Adventures was by far our favourite activity in São Miguel. Rodrigo and Victor were the best guides – fun, professional, and made us feel completely safe and well looked after from start to finish. Their knowledge of the area and local flora added a special touch that made the adventure even more memorable. We loved that the groups are small, so everyone gets plenty of time and support, and the atmosphere was so encouraging with everyone cheering each other on. Couldn’t recommend this enough – if you’re in São Miguel, this is a must-do!

We had a fantastic time, it was so beautiful and Rodrigo and Diago were so friendly, welcoming and professional. A really enjoyable experince and intro to canyoning.
